a transceiver unit, comprising;
a housing adapted to be connected to a proximal end of the sensor wire; and
a first communication module within the housing adapted to wirelessly communicate by a communication signal with an external second communication module in order to transfer information to the external second communication module,wherein the communication signal, including sensor values, is generated by the transceiver unit and transferred as a data stream,wherein the housing is configured to remain external to the patient'"'"'s body.
