Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for altering a view perspective within a display environment. For example, gesture data corresponding to a plurality of inputs may be stored. The input may be input into a game or application implemented by a computing device. Images of a user of the game or application may be captured. For example, a suitable capture device may capture several images of the user over a period of time. The images may be analyzed and processed for detecting a user'"'"'s gesture. Aspects of the user'"'"'s gesture may be compared to the stored gesture data for determining an intended gesture input for the user. The comparison may be part of an analysis for determining inputs corresponding to the gesture data, where one or more of the inputs are input into the game or application and cause a view perspective within the display environment to be altered.

Claims

1. A method for altering a view perspective within a display environment, the method comprising:

storing a plurality of gesture data corresponding to a plurality of inputs;

detecting a user'"'"'s gesture;

analyzing the detected gesture using the gesture data;

determining at least one of the inputs, based on the analysis, for altering a view perspective within a display environment; and

displaying the altered view perspective of the display environment based on the at least one of the inputs.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein storing the plurality of gesture data further comprises filtering conditions including at least one of angular distance and linear distance from a skeletal bone position or a skeletal joint position.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein storing the plurality of gesture data further comprises filtering conditions including at least one of a velocity and an acceleration of a skeletal bone or a skeletal joint.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein detecting a user'"'"'s gesture further comprises detecting at least one of the following user movements:

forward movement, backward movement, turn movement, duck movement, crouch movement, swim movement, flying movement, zoom movement, strafe movement, and circle movement.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein analyzing the detected gesture further comprises:

comparing an aspect of the detected gesture to the plurality of gesture data; and

determining whether the aspect of the detected gesture matches an aspect of the gesture data.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the display environment is one of a three-dimensional virtual environment and a displayed real environment.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising determining the altered view perspective of the display environment based on the at least one of the inputs.

8. The method of claim 1 further comprising altering a virtual viewport of the display environment based on at least one of the inputs.

9. A computer readable medium having stored thereon computer executable instructions for altering a view perspective within a display environment, comprising:

storing a plurality of gesture data corresponding to a plurality of inputs;

detecting a user'"'"'s gesture;

analyzing the detected gesture using the gesture data;

determining at least one of the inputs, based on the analysis, for altering a view perspective within a display environment; and

displaying the altered view perspective of the display environment based on the at least one of the inputs.

10. The computer readable medium of claim 9 wherein the computer executable instructions for storing the plurality of gesture data further comprises filtering conditions including at least one of angular distance and linear distance from a skeletal bone position or a skeletal joint position.

11. The computer readable medium of claim 9 wherein the computer executable instructions for storing the plurality of gesture data further comprises filtering conditions including at least one of a velocity and an acceleration of a skeletal bone or a skeletal joint.

12. The computer readable medium of claim 9 wherein the computer executable instructions for detecting a user'"'"'s gesture further comprises detecting at least one of the following user movements:

forward movement, backward movement, turn movement, duck movement, crouch movement, swim movement, flying movement, zoom movement, strafe movement, and circle movement.

13. The computer readable medium of claim 9 wherein the display environment is one of a three-dimensional virtual environment and a displayed real environment.

14. The computer readable medium of claim 9 wherein the computer executable instructions further comprise determining the altered view perspective of the display environment based on the at least one of the inputs.

15. The computer readable medium of claim 9 wherein the computer executable instructions further comprise altering a virtual viewport of the display environment based on at least one of the inputs.

16. A system for altering a view perspective within a display environment, the system comprising:

a detector for detecting a user'"'"'s gesture;

a computing device for;

storing a plurality of gesture data corresponding to a plurality of inputs;

analyzing the detected gesture using the gesture data; and

determining at least one of the inputs, based on the analysis, for altering a view perspective within a display environment; and

a display for displaying the altered view perspective of the display environment based on the at least one of the inputs.

17. The system of claim 16 wherein the computing device is configured to detect at least one of the following user movements:

forward movement, backward movement, turn movement, duck movement, crouch movement, swim movement, flying movement, zoom movement, strafe movement, and circle movement.

18. The system of claim 16 wherein the display environment is one of a three-dimensional virtual environment and a displayed real environment.

19. The system of claim 16 wherein the computing device is configured to determine the altered view perspective of the display environment based on the at least one of the inputs.

20. The system of claim 16 wherein the computing device is configured to alter a virtual viewport of the display environment based on at least one of the inputs.
