Abstract

A mobile device receives a radio simulcast of streaming data and content. The mobile device extracts metadata from the radio simulcast. The mobile device identifies a communication channel to a content provider by comparing components of the metadata with reference data. The mobile device presents a user interface for connecting to the content provider through the communication channel. The mobile device also records the metadata with a time stamp and provides a user interface for displaying the data and time of content received.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

receiving a radio simulcast of a data stream and content on a mobile device, the data stream comprising one or more information snippets;

extracting content metadata from the information snippets while playing the content of the radio simulcast on the mobile device;

presenting a first user interface for accessing a communication channel on a display of the mobile device, the communication channel connecting the mobile device to a content supplier based on the content metadata; and

opening the communication channel in response to a user request.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein extracting content metadata further comprises:

identifying from the information snippets a program type of the content being broadcast, a title of the content, a name of a performer of the content, a composer of the content, and an identifier identifying a radio station; and

storing the program type, the title, the name of the performer, the name of the composer, and the identifier in a data structure on a storage device on the mobile device.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

storing a timestamp associated with the data structure on the storage device; and

presenting a second user interface, the second user interface operable for displaying the title of the content played on the mobile device and the timestamp in response to a user query.

The method of claim 2, wherein the first user interface further comprises first contact information in a radio station database, the first contact information corresponding to the radio station identified by the identifier, the radio station database stored on the mobile device and periodically updated.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein assembling the information snippets into the content metadata further comprises:

identifying one or more advertisers and second contact information on the advertisers from the information snippets; and

storing the advertisers and second contact information on the advertisers on the storage device.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the first user interface further comprises a browsable display of the advertisers.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein the first user interface further comprises a telephone interface for dialing a telephone number contained in the second contact information.

8. The method of claim 5, wherein the first user interface further comprises a messaging interface for sending a message to a telephone number contained in the second contact information.

9. A computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving a radio simulcast of a data stream and content on a mobile device, the data stream comprising one or more information snippets;

extracting content metadata from the information snippets while playing the content of the radio simulcast on the mobile device;

presenting a first user interface for accessing a communication channel on a display of the mobile device, the communication channel connecting the mobile device to a content supplier based on the content metadata; and

opening the communication channel in response to a user request.

10. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, wherein extracting content metadata further comprises:

identifying from the information snippets a program type of the content being broadcast, a title of the content, a name of a performer of the content, a composer of the content, and an identifier identifying a radio station; and

storing the program type, the title, the name of the performer, the name of the composer, and the identifier in a data structure on a storage device on the mobile device.

11. The computer-readable medium of claim 10, the operations further comprising:

storing a timestamp in association with the data structure on the storage device; and

presenting a second user interface, the second user interface operable for displaying the title of the content played on the mobile device and the timestamp in response to a user query.

12. The computer-readable medium of claim 10, wherein the first user interface further comprises first contact information in a radio station database, the first contact information corresponding to the radio station identified by the identifier, the radio station database stored on the mobile device and periodically updated.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 10, wherein assembling the information snippets into the content metadata further comprises:

identifying one or more advertisers and second contact information on the advertisers from the information snippets s; and

storing the advertisers and second contact information on the advertisers on the storage device.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 13, wherein the first user interface further comprises a browsable display of the advertisers.

15. The computer-readable medium of claim 13, wherein the first user interface further comprises a telephone interface for dialing a telephone number contained in the second contact information.

16. The computer-readable medium of claim 13, wherein the first user interface further comprises a messaging interface for sending a message to a telephone number contained in the second contact information.

17. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a computer-readable medium coupled to the processor and having instructions contained thereon, which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising;

receiving a radio simulcast of a data stream and content on a mobile device, the data stream comprising one or more information snippets s;

extracting content metadata from the information snippets s while playing the content of the radio simulcast on the mobile device;

presenting a first user interface for accessing a communication channel on a display of the mobile device, the communication channel connecting the mobile device to a content supplier based on the content metadata; and

opening the communication channel in response to a user request.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein extracting content metadata further comprises:

identifying from the information snippets s a program type of the content being broadcast, a title of the content, a name of a performer of the content, a composer of the content, and an identifier identifying a radio station; and

storing the program type, the title, the name of the performer, the name of the composer, and the identifier in a data structure on a storage device on the mobile device.

19. The system of claim 18, the operations further comprising:

storing a timestamp in association with the data structure on the storage device; and

presenting a second user interface, the second user interface operable for displaying the title of the content played on the mobile device and the timestamp in response to a user query.

20. The system of claim 18, wherein the first user interface further comprises first contact information in a radio station database, the first contact information corresponding to the radio station identified by the identifier, the radio station database stored on the mobile device and periodically updated.

21. The system of claim 18, wherein assembling the information snippets into the content metadata further comprises:

identifying one or more advertisers and second contact information on the advertisers from the information snippets; and

storing the advertisers and second contact information on the advertisers on the storage device.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the first user interface further comprises a browsable display of the advertisers.

23. The system of claim 21, wherein the first user interface further comprises a telephone interface for dialing a telephone number contained in the second contact information.

24. The system of claim 21, wherein the first user interface further comprises a messaging interface for sending a message to a telephone number contained in the second contact information.
