Abstract

Techniques are disclosed for prevention or treatment of physiological shock by administering a specific therapeutic agent, which is able to use smaller volumes of reagent to achieve complete inhibition, than other previously described techniques.

Claims

1. A method for reducing insulin resistance in physiological shock comprising:

administering to a peritoneum of an individual a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, cytotoxic mediator inhibitor, and antibacterial agent.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

administering to the individual a therapeutic dose of a MMP inhibitor.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the MMP inhibitor includes doxycycline.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the MMP inhibitor is administered through an i.v.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein the MMP inhibitor is administered directly into the lumen of the intestine.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

administering to an intestine of the individual a therapeutic dose of one or more of;

serine protease inhibitor and lipase inhibitor.

7. A method for prevention or treatment of physiological shock comprising:

administering to a peritoneum of an individual a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, cytotoxic mediator inhibitor, and antibacterial agent.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

administering to the individual a therapeutic dose of a MMP inhibitor.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the MMP inhibitor includes doxycycline.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the MMP inhibitor is administered through an i.v.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the MMP inhibitor is administered directly into the lumen of the intestine.

12. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

administering to an intestine of the individual a therapeutic dose of one or more of;

serine protease inhibitor and lipase inhibitor.

13. The method of claim 7, wherein the pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor includes serine protease.

14. The method of claim 7, wherein the pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor includes lipase.

15. The method of claim 7, wherein the cytotoxic mediator is lipid derived.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the cytotoxic lipid derived mediator inhibitor includes free fatty acid binding proteins.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the free fatty acid binding protein includes albumin.

18. The method of claim 7, wherein the antibacterial agent comprises an antibiotic agent.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the antibiotic agent includes one or more of:

ciprofloxacin, metronidazole, imipenem, cilastatin, ticarcillin, clavulanate, cefuroxime.

20. A method for reducing complications after radiation, trauma or surgery, the method comprising:

administering to a peritoneum of an individual a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, cytotoxic mediator inhibitor, and antibacterial agent.

21. The method of claim 20, further comprising:

administering to the individual a therapeutic dose of a MMP inhibitor.

22. The method of claim 20, further comprising:

administering to an intestine of the individual a therapeutic dose of one or more of;

serine protease inhibitor and lipase inhibitor.

23. A method for prevention or treatment of septic shock, the method comprising:

administering to a peritoneum of an individual a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, cytotoxic mediator inhibitor, and antibacterial agent.

24. The method of claim 23, further comprising:

administering to the individual a therapeutic dose of a MMP inhibitor.

25. The method of claim 23, further comprising:

administering to an intestine of the individual a therapeutic dose of one or more of;

serine protease inhibitor and lipase inhibitor.

26. A method for reducing mortality after shock, the method comprising:

administering to a peritoneum of an individual a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, cytotoxic mediator inhibitor, and antibacterial agent.

27. The method of claim 26, further comprising:

administering to the individual a therapeutic dose of a MMP inhibitor.

28. The method of claim 26, further comprising:

administering to an intestine of the individual a therapeutic dose of one or more of;

serine protease inhibitor and lipase inhibitor.

29. A method for prevention of organ fusion in the peritoneum, the method comprising:

administering to the peritoneum of an individual a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, cytotoxic mediator inhibitor, and antibacterial agent.

30. The method of claim 29, further comprising:

administering to the individual a therapeutic dose of a MMP inhibitor.

31. The method of claim 29, further comprising:

administering to an intestine of the individual a therapeutic dose of one or more of;

serine protease inhibitor and lipase inhibitor.

32. A method for prevention of organ fusion, the method comprising:

administering a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, cytotoxic mediator inhibitor, and antibacterial agent.

33. The method of claim 32, further comprising:

administering to the individual a therapeutic dose of a MMP inhibitor.

34. The method of claim 32, further comprising:

administering a therapeutic dose of one or more of;

serine protease inhibitor and lipase inhibitor.

35. The method of claim 32, wherein the administering takes place in the intercostal space.

36. The method of claim 32, wherein the administering takes place in the pericardium.

37. A method for prevention or treatment of physiological shock comprising:

administering to a peritoneum of an individual a therapeutic dose of any combination of one or more of;

pancreatic digestive enzyme inhibitor, and cytotoxic mediator inhibitor.
