Abstract

A touch panel, a display panel, and a display unit achieving prevention of erroneous detection caused by external noise, are provided. The touch panel includes: a plurality of detection scan electrodes extending in a first direction; and a plurality of detection electrodes facing the plurality of detection scan electrodes and extending in a second direction which intersects the first direction. A ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between one or more selected detection scan electrodes and a first detection electrode is different from a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between the one or more selected detection scan electrodes and a second detection electrode. The one or more selected detection scan electrodes are selected, in a desired unit, from the plurality of detection scan electrodes, to be supplied with a selection pulse, and each of the first and the second detection electrodes is selected from the plurality of detection electrodes.

Claims

1. A touch panel comprising:

a plurality of detection scan electrodes extending in a first direction; and

a plurality of detection electrodes provided to face the plurality of detection scan electrodes and extending in a second direction which intersects the first direction, the plurality of detection electrodes having a first detection electrode and a second detection electrode,

wherein a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between one or more selected detection scan electrodes and the first detection electrode is different from a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between the one or more selected detection scan electrodes and the second detection electrode, the one or more selected detection scan electrodes being selected, in a desired unit, from the plurality of detection scan electrodes, to be supplied with a selection pulse, and each of the first detection electrode and the second detection electrode being selected from the plurality of detection electrodes.

2. The touch panel according to claim 1, wherein the first detection electrode is disposed adjacent to the second detection electrode.

3. The touch panel according to claim 1, wherein the first detection electrode is different from the second detection electrode in shape.

4. The touch panel according to claim 3, wherein the first detection electrode is different from the second detection electrode in line width.

5. The touch panel according to claim 3, wherein a total length of an edge included in a first region of the first detection electrode is different from a total length of an edge included in a second region of the second detection electrode, each of the first region and the second region facing to overlap a detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes.

6. The touch panel according to claim 3, wherein any one of the first and second detection electrodes has one or more projection parts in a region facing to overlap the selected detection scan electrode.

7. The touch panel according to claim 1, wherein shape of a detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes varies according to a position.

The touch panel according to claim 7, wherein a line width of the detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes in a region facing to overlap the first detection electrode is different from a line width of the detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes in a region facing to overlap the second detection electrode.

9. The touch panel according to claim 7, wherein

a line width of the detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes in a region facing to overlap the first detection electrode is equal to a line width of the detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes in a region facing to overlap the second detection electrode, and

a line width of the detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes in a region adjacent to a region facing to overlap the first detection electrode is different from a line width of the detection scan electrode of the plurality of detection scan electrodes in a region adjacent to a region facing to overlap the second detection electrode.

10. A display panel comprising:

a plurality of pixel electrodes;

a common electrode provided to face the plurality of pixel electrodes;

a display function layer having a display function;

a plurality of detection scan electrodes extending in a first direction; and

a plurality of detection electrodes provided to face the plurality of detection scan electrodes and extending in a second direction which intersects the first direction, the plurality of detection electrodes having a first detection electrode and a second detection electrode,

wherein a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between one or more selected detection scan electrodes and the first detection electrode is different from a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between the one or more selected detection scan electrodes and the second detection electrode, the one or more selected detection scan electrodes being selected, in a desired unit, from the plurality of detection scan electrodes, to be supplied with a selection pulse, and each of the first detection electrode and the second detection electrode being selected from the plurality of detection electrodes.

11. A display panel comprising:

a plurality of pixel electrodes;

a plurality of common electrodes provided to face the plurality of pixel electrodes and extending in a first direction;

a display function layer having a display function; and

a plurality of detection electrodes provided to face the plurality of the common electrodes and extending in a second direction which intersects the first direction, the plurality of detection electrodes having a first detection electrode and a second detection electrode,

wherein a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between one or more selected common electrodes and the first detection electrode is different from a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between the one or more selected common electrodes and the second detection electrode, the one or more selected common electrodes being selected, in a desired unit, from the plurality of common electrodes, to be supplied with a selection pulse, and each of the first detection electrode and the second detection electrode being selected from the plurality of detection electrodes.

12. A display unit comprising:

a plurality of pixel electrodes;

a common electrode provided to face the plurality of pixel electrodes;

a display function layer having a display function;

a plurality of detection scan electrodes extending in a first direction;

a plurality of detection electrodes provided to face the plurality of detection scan electrodes and extending in a second direction which intersects the first direction, the plurality of detection electrodes having a first detection electrode and a second detection electrode;

a first drive section allowing the display function of the display function layer to be performed by applying a signal voltage corresponding to a video signal between each of the pixel electrode and the common electrode;

a second drive section applying a selection pulse to the plurality of detection scan electrodes; and

a detection section detecting an external proximity object on the basis of a detection signals obtained from the plurality of detection electrodes,

wherein a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between one or more selected detection scan electrodes and the first detection electrode is different from a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between the one or more selected detection scan electrodes and the second detection electrode, the one or more selected detection scan electrodes being selected, in a desired unit, from the plurality of detection scan electrodes by the second drive section, to be supplied with a selection pulse, and each of the first detection electrode and the second detection electrode being selected from the plurality of detection electrodes.

13. The display unit according to claim 12, wherein the detection unit detects the external proximity object on the basis of a difference between a detection signal obtained from the first detection electrode and a detection signal obtained from the second detection electrode.

14. The display unit according to claim 12, wherein

the detection section corrects a signal level of a first detection signal or a signal level of a second detection signal or both thereof with use of a resistor having an adjusted resistance value which allows a value of the first detection signal to be equal to a value of the second detection signal, the first and second detection signals being obtained from the first and second detection electrodes, respectively, when a fixed voltage is applied to a predetermined detection scan electrode selected from the plurality of detection scan electrodes while a conductor supplied with a predetermined voltage is in contact with an image display face, and then

the detection section detects the external proximity object with use of the corrected first detection signal or the corrected second detection signal or both thereof.

15. The display unit according to claim 12, wherein

the detection section calculates a correction coefficient with use of a value of the first detection signal and a value of the second detection signal, the first and second detection signals being obtained from the first and second detection electrodes, respectively, when a fixed voltage is applied to a predetermined detection scan electrode selected from the plurality of detection scan electrodes while a conductor supplied with a predetermined voltage is in contact with an image display face,

the detection section corrects a signal level of the first detection signal or a signal level of the second detection signal or both thereof with use of the calculated correction coefficient, and then

the detection section detects the external proximity object with use of the corrected first detection signal or the corrected second detection signal or both thereof.

16. A display unit comprising:

a plurality of pixel electrodes;

a plurality of common electrodes provided to face the plurality of pixel electrodes and extending in a first direction;

a display function layer having a display function;

a plurality of detection electrodes provided to face the plurality of the common electrodes and extending in a second direction which intersects the first direction, the plurality of detection electrodes having a first detection electrode and a second detection electrode;

a drive section allowing the display function of the display function layer to be performed by applying a signal voltage corresponding to a video signal between each of the pixel electrode and the common electrode, and applying a selection pulse to the plurality of common electrodes; and

a detection section detecting an external proximity object on the basis of a detection signals obtained from the plurality of detection electrodes,

wherein a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between one or more selected common electrodes and the first detection electrode is different from a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between the one or more selected common electrodes and the second detection electrode, the one or more selected common electrodes being selected, in a desired unit, from the plurality of common electrodes by the second drive section, to be supplied with a selection pulse, and each of the first detection electrode and the second detection electrode being selected from the plurality of detection electrodes.

17. The display unit according to claim 16, wherein the detection unit detects the external proximity object on the basis of the difference between the detection signal obtained from the first detection electrode and the detection signal obtained from the second detection electrode.
