Abstract

Systems and methods provide a measurement system that modifies the display format based on the type of measurements or and/or the value measured, and these modifications are automatically made based on the information stored within sensors, sensor pods and/or alarm limits.

Claims

1. A method executable by one or more processors, the method comprising:

receiving data indicating a measurement type from each of a plurality of sensors;

determining a display format for a display according to the measurement types for the plurality of sensors; and

displaying values received from the plurality of sensors in accordance with the display format.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the display format includes a trend line.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the display format includes a plethismograph.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the display format includes a value.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein at least two of the plurality of sensors have the same measurement type and wherein determining the display format includes concurrently displaying data for the at least two of the plurality of sensors having the same data type.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein concurrently displaying data includes displaying the data from the at least two of the plurality of sensors adjacent to one another.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein concurrently displaying data includes displaying the data from the at least two of the plurality of sensors on the same graph.

8. The method of claim 5, and further comprising:

in response to determining that a value from a sensor has crossed a threshold, modifying the display format for the data stream from the sensor.

9. The method of claim 1, and further comprising:

in response to determining that an alarm has been generated, modifying the display format for the data stream from the sensor.

10. The method of claim 8, and further comprising:

in response to determining that a value from a sensor has crossed a threshold, modifying the display format for all data streams from the sensors to change a relative prominence of the different data streams.

11. The method of claim 9, and further comprising:

in response to determining that an alarm has been generated, modifying the display format for all data streams from the sensors to change a relative prominence of the different data streams.

12. The method of claim 1, and further comprising:

only displaying a subset of the sensor data streams and choosing the sensor data streams to display based on the distance of the sensor data from a threshold or having crossed a threshold.

13. The method of claim 12, and further comprising:

only displaying a subset of the sensor data streams possible data formats and choosing the sensor data streams data formats to display based on the distance of the sensor data from a threshold or having crossed a threshold.

14. The method of claim 1, and further comprising:

choosing which format or formats to display each data stream in based on the history or change in behavior of the data stream.

15. A system comprising:

a plurality of sensors, each sensor having a measurement type; and

a display unit operable to;

receive data indicating a measurement type for each of the plurality of sensors,

determine a display format for a display according to the measurement types for the plurality of sensors, and

display values originating from the plurality of sensors in accordance with the display format.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the measurement type is determined according to sensor type data provided by the sensor.

17. The system of claim 15, and further comprising one or more sensor pods communicably coupling at least a subset of the plurality of sensors to the display unit.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the measurement type is determined according to sensor type data provided by the sensor pod.

19. The system of claim 17, wherein the values originating from one or more of the plurality of sensors are modified according to calibration parameters stored on the one or more sensor pods.

20. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that when executed cause one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving data indicating a measurement type from each of a plurality of sensors;

determining a display format for a display according to the measurement types for the plurality of sensors; and

displaying values received from the plurality of sensors in accordance with the display format.
