Abstract

A system, apparatus, and method are disclosed which provide a random prize modification wherein a promotion index value is produced for a player in a wagering game. This promotion index value is then used in modifying a predetermined prize based on the wagering game outcome. In one embodiment, a particular game outcome is associated with an initial index value. The promotion index value is then produced and added to the initial index value to produce a final index value. This final index value is then used to look up an associated prize which is assigned to the player.

Claims

1. A gaming method including the steps of:

initiating play of a wagering game responsive to a player request at a player station;

determining a game outcome and an associated award with one or more processors;

determining an award modifier;

varying the associated award by applying the award modifier to obtain at least one final prize.

2. The gaming method of claim 1, the game outcome determining step being performed remotely from the player station.

3. The gaming method of claim 1 including the step of:

associating a card with the player request.

4. The gaming method of claim 3 including the step of:

matching the card with a ball draw to identify the game outcome.

5. The gaming method of claim 1, the award issuing step including:

displaying a game presentation including at least one of a bingo game, a reel-based game, and a card game.

6. The gaming method of claim 1 including the step of:

displaying an indicator corresponding to the associated award, before applying the modifier.

7. The gaming method of claim 1, the step determining the game outcome and the associated award including:

correlating the game outcome with an initial index value, correlating the initial index value to the associated award.

8. The gaming method of claim 1 wherein the award modifier is independent of the game outcome.

9. The gaming method of claim 1, the step of determining the award modifier including:

randomly or pseudo-randomly determining the award modifier.

10. The gaming method of claim 1, the step of determining the award modifier including:

determining the award modifier for a single play of the game.

11. The gaming method of claim 1, the step of determining the award modifier including:

determining the award modifier for more than one play of the game.

12. The gaming method of claim 1, the step of determining the award modifier including:

determining the award modifier for at least one game play at two or more gaming stations.

13. The gaming method of claim 1 including the step of:

providing the player with an option to accept or decline modification of the associated award.

14. The gaming method of claim 13 including providing the player option step at the time of the player request.

15. The gaming method of claim 13 including providing the player option step after an indication of the associated award is displayed.

16. A gaming method including the steps of:

initiating play of a wagering game responsive to a player request at a player station;

determining a game outcome and an associated award with one or more processors;

determine at least one final prize defined by f(x,y);

where f(x,y) equals the associated award plus an award modifier.

17. A gaming method including the steps of:

initiating play of a wagering game responsive to a player request at a player station;

determining a game outcome and an associated award level with one or more processors;

determine at least one final prize correlated to f(x,y);

where f(x,y) equals the associated award level plus an award level modifier.
