Abstract

Exemplary embodiments are directed to a display assembly. A display assembly may comprise a display unit and at least one antenna at least partially surrounding at least a portion of the display unit. The at least one antenna may be configured for at least one of receiving wireless power, transmitting data, and receiving data.

Claims

1. A display assembly, comprising:

at least one antenna configured to surround and be at least indirectly supported by at least a portion of the display unit, the at least one antenna further configured for at least one of transmitting or receiving wireless power, and transmitting or receiving data.

2. The display assembly of claim 1, further comprising a display unit.

3. The display assembly of claim 2, wherein a perimeter of the display unit at least indirectly supports the at least one antenna.

4. The display assembly of claim 2, wherein a perimeter of the display unit substantially defines a circumference of at least one winding of the at least one antenna.

5. The display assembly of claim 2, wherein the display unit comprises at least one of a screen, one or more display drivers, one or more lighting devices, one or more sensors, one or more connectors, and one or more feedback elements.

6. The display assembly of claim 2, further comprising a connector operably coupled to each of the display unit and the at least one antenna.

7. The display assembly of claim 6, wherein the display unit and the at least one antenna share one or more connections of the connector.

8. The display assembly of claim 2, further comprising a ring comprising ferrite material at least partially surrounding the display unit and positioned between the display unit and the at least one antenna.

9. The display assembly of claim 2, further comprising a shell comprising magnetically transparent material surrounding the at least one antenna and at least a portion of the display unit.

10. The display assembly of claim 1, wherein the display assembly is configured to enable a magnetic flux to radiate through each of a front side and a backside of the display assembly.

11. The display assembly of claim 1, further comprising a near-field communication system embedded therein.

12. The display assembly of claim 1, further comprising a wireless charging system embedded therein.

13. The display assembly of claim 1, wherein the at least one antenna comprises a coil antenna comprising one or more windings.

14. The display assembly of claim 1, wherein the display assembly is integrated within an electronic device.

15. The display assembly of claim 14, wherein the electronic device comprises at least one of a cellular telephone, a portable media player, a camera, a gaming device, a navigation device, a tool, and a toy.

16. A method, comprising forming a display assembly including at least one antenna at least partially surrounding at least a portion of a display unit.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein forming comprises forming a display assembly including at least one antenna at least partially surrounding at least a portion of a display unit comprising at least one of a screen, one or more display drivers, one or more lighting devices, one or more sensors, one or more connectors, and one or more feedback elements.

18. The method of claim 16, further comprising coupling a connector to each of the display unit and the at least one antenna.

19. The method of claim 16, further comprising positioning a ring comprising ferrite material at least partially around the display unit and positioned between the display unit and the at least one antenna.

20. The method of claim 16, further comprising encasing the at least one antenna and at least a portion of the display unit in a magnetically transparent shell.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein forming a display assembly further comprises positioning a near-field communication system in the display assembly.

22. The method of claim 16, wherein forming a display assembly further comprises positioning a wireless charging system in the display assembly.

23. A display assembly, comprising:

a display unit; and

at least one antenna at least partially surrounding at least a portion of the display unit and coupled thereto.
