Abstract

Methods and apparatus for employing femto technology in an enterprise kiosk are presented herein. A content component can receive multimedia content from a base station coupled to a core network. Further, a transfer component can wirelessly transfer the received multimedia content to a mobile device utilizing a femto based wireless protocol based on, at least in part, a sale of the received multimedia content. A database component can store the received multimedia content in a data store, and the transfer component can wirelessly transfer the stored multimedia content to the mobile device utilizing the femto based wireless protocol. The transfer component can alternatively record the received multimedia content in a removable data storage device.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

at least one computing device that executes the following computer executable components based on instructions stored on at least one computer readable medium;

a content component that receives multimedia content from a base station coupled to a core network;

a notice component that, in response to receiving attachment input from one or more mobile devices via a femto based wireless protocol, transmits information associated with the multimedia content to the one or more mobile devices via the femto based wireless protocol based on a location of the one or more mobile devices; and

a transfer component that wirelessly transfers a subset of the multimedia content to the one or more mobile devices utilizing the femto based wireless protocol based on, at least in part, a sale of the subset of the multimedia content.

2. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a database component that stores the multimedia content in a data store as stored multimedia content;

wherein the transfer component wirelessly transfers the subset of the multimedia content to the mobile device utilizing the femto based wireless protocol based on, at least in part, the sale of the subset of the multimedia content.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the transfer component records the stored multimedia content in one or more removable data storage devices based on, at least in part, the sale of the subset of the multimedia content.

4. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

an encoding component that;

determines an optimal encoding scheme for the mobile device based on information received from at least one of the core network or the mobile device; and

encodes the stored multimedia content to yield encoded multimedia content, based on, at least in part, the optimal encoding scheme;

wherein the transfer component wirelessly transfers the encoded multimedia content to the mobile device utilizing the femto based wireless protocol based on, at least in part, the sale of the subset of the multimedia content.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

an access component that controls at least one of the following based on information associated with the mobile device;

permission to purchase the subset of the multimedia content;

permission to access the core network via the femto based wireless protocol;

or

a fee associated with the sale of the subset of the multimedia content.

6. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a tracking component that

tracks the location of the one or more mobile devices based on the attachment input.

7. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

an advertisement component that at least one of;

transmits information to the mobile device comprising incentives for purchasing the at least one of multimedia content or services;

or

initiates at least one of a browsing application or a purchasing application in the mobile device.

8. The system of claim 3, further comprising:

a profile component that at least one of creates or updates a profile associated with the subset of the multimedia content.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the profile component:

monitors a number of times the subset of the multimedia content is wirelessly transferred to one or more mobile devices or recorded in one or more removable data storage devices; and

at least one of creates or updates the profile based on the monitored number of times the subset of the multimedia content is wirelessly transferred to the one or more mobile devices or recorded in the one or more removable data storage devices.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the profile component:

at least one of creates or updates the profile based on the subset of the multimedia content that is at least one of most transferred or least transferred to the one or more mobile devices or recorded in the one or more removable data storage devices.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the profile component:

at least one of creates or updates the profile based on a genre associated with the subset of the multimedia content.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the profile component:

at least one of creates or updates a profile associated with the subset of the multimedia content transferred to the one or more mobile devices; and

characterizes the subset of the multimedia content associated with the one or more mobile devices based on the created or updated profile.

13. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a billing component that transmits information associated with the sale to an entity associated with the core network.

14. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a transfer management component that;

reports a status of the wireless transfer; and

based on the status, at least one of;

offers an incentive to complete the wireless transfer;

forwards an incomplete portion of the wireless transfer to another device for later retrieval;

halts the wireless transfer after a portion of the subset of the multimedia content is wirelessly transferred and wirelessly transfers remaining portions of the multimedia content when the wireless transfer is resumed;

or

terminates the wireless transfer before the subset of the multimedia content is successfully transferred to the one or more mobile devices.

15. The system of claim 8, further comprising:

a content management component that at least one of;

proactively updates the subset of the multimedia content based on the profile;

or

optimizes at least one of;

receiving the subset of the multimedia content from the base station based on the profile;

or

storing the subset of the multimedia content in the data store based on the profile.

16. A method performed by a computing device, the method comprising:

receiving data at a femto based kiosk;

receiving attachment input;

based on attachment input received from at least one device via a femto based wireless protocol at the femto based kiosk, sending to the at least one device, via the femto based wireless protocol, an offer to purchase the data; and

transferring at least a subset of the data to the at least one device via the femto based wireless protocol.

17. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

storing at least a portion of the data at the femto based kiosk to generate stored data; and

transferring the stored data to the at least one device via the femto based wireless protocol.

18. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

transferring at least a portion of the data to a removable storage device coupled to the femto based kiosk.

19. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

characterizing the stored data; and

sending information to the at least one device based on the characterizing.

20. The method of claim 19, further comprising:

sending advertisements to the at least one device based on the characterizing.

26. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

receiving from the device, via the femto based protocol, instructions to purchase the at least a subset of the data.

21. A method performed by a computing device, the method comprising:

in response to broadcasting attachment data from a mobile device, receiving information about data available for download from a kiosk via a femto based wireless protocol;

requesting a subset of the data via the femto based wireless protocol;

receiving the subset of the data at the mobile device from the kiosk via the femto based wireless protocol; and

storing the subset of the data within the mobile device.

22. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

outputting at least one of sound or images via the device based on the subset of the data.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising:

transferring the subset of the data to another device.

28. The method of claim 21, wherein the requesting a subset of the data further comprises authorizing a payment in exchange for receiving the subset of the data.

24. A femto based kiosk comprising:

at least one memory device coupled to at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to access data and instructions stored in the at least one memory device, and wherein the at least one memory device comprises instructions for;

receiving data from a base station coupled to the femto based kiosk;

based on receiving attachment input from a mobile device, sending information regarding the data to the mobile device, via the femto based wireless protocol; and

based on a request from the mobile device via the femto based wireless protocol, at least one of;

storing at least a portion of the data on a removable storage device coupled to the femto based kiosk;

or

transferring at least a portion of the data to the mobile device via the femto based wireless protocol.

25. A mobile device comprising:

at least one memory device coupled to at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to access data and instructions stored in the at least one memory device, and wherein the at least one memory device comprises instructions for;

in response to broadcasting attachment input via a femto based wireless protocol, receiving information regarding data from a femto based kiosk, via the femto based wireless protocol, wherein the femto based kiosk generated the information immediately upon receiving the attachment input;

requesting a subset of the data, via the femto based wireless protocol;

receiving the subset of the data from the femto based kiosk via the femto based wireless protocol; and

at least one of;

generating at least one of sound or images via the device based on the receiving;

or

transferring the data to another device.

27. The mobile device of claim 25, wherein the requesting the subset of the data included purchasing the subset of the data.
