Abstract

An apparatus comprising a server. The server can be configured to receive a request for content from a mobile computing device. The server can be configured to transmit the content to the mobile computing device in response to the request. The content can include an advertisement. The mobile computing device can be configured to store an indication of whether the content has been previously presented on the mobile computing device. The server can be configured to receive an identifier from the mobile computing device in response to a presentation of the content by the mobile computing device if the content is being presented for the first time on the mobile computing device. The identifier can indicate whether the content is presented on the mobile computing device for the first time. The server can be configured to monitor the exposure of the advertisement based on the identifier.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a server configured to;

receive, from a mobile computing device, a request for content;

transmit, in response to the request, the content to the mobile computing device, wherein the content includes an advertisement and the mobile computing device is configured to store an indication of whether the content has been previously presented on the mobile computing device;

if the content is being presented for the first time on the mobile computing device, receive an identifier from the mobile computing device in response to a presentation of the content by the mobile computing device, wherein the identifier indicates whether the content is presented on the mobile computing device for the first time; and

monitor an exposure of the advertisement based on the identifier.

2. The apparatus claim 1, wherein content is encrypted.

3. The apparatus claim 2, wherein the server is further configured to transmit a digital content key to the mobile computing device, wherein the digital content key enables presentation of the content on the mobile computing device.

4. The apparatus claim 1, wherein monitoring the exposure of the advertisement based on the identifier comprises updating an advertisement impression count in response to receipt of the identifier.

5. The apparatus claim 4, wherein the advertisement impression count includes information associated with the mobile computing device.

6. The apparatus claim 5, wherein the information includes at least one of a location of the mobile computing device, a type of the mobile computing device, or account information associated with the mobile computing device.

7. The apparatus claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to receive a second identifier from a second mobile computing device, wherein the second mobile computing device received the content from the mobile computing device.

8. The apparatus claim 7, wherein monitoring the exposure of the advertisement based on the identifier comprises updating an advertisement impression count in response to receipt of the second identifier.

9. The apparatus claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to monitor an exposure of the content based on the identifier.

10. The apparatus claim 1, wherein the content includes a second advertisement.

11. An article of manufacture including a tangible computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, if executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to perform operations comprising:

receiving, from a mobile computing device, a request for content;

transmitting, in response to the request, the content to the mobile computing device, wherein the content includes an advertisement and the mobile computing device is configured to store an indication of whether the content has been previously presented on the mobile computing device;

if the content is being presented for the first time on the mobile computing device, receiving an identifier from the mobile computing device in response to a presentation of the content by the mobile computing device, wherein the identifier indicates whether the content is presented on the mobile computing device for the first time; and

monitoring an exposure of the advertisement based on the identifier.

12. The article of manufacture claim 11, wherein content is encrypted.

13. The article of manufacture claim 12, wherein the operations further comprise transmitting a digital content key to the mobile computing device, wherein the digital content key enables presentation of the content on the mobile computing device.

14. The article of manufacture claim 11, wherein monitoring the exposure of the advertisement based on the identifier comprises updating an advertisement impression count in response to receipt of the identifier.

15. The article of manufacture claim 14, wherein the advertisement impression count includes information associated with the mobile computing device.

16. The article of manufacture claim 15, wherein the information includes at least one of a location of the mobile computing device, a type of the mobile computing device, or account information associated with the mobile computing device.

17. The article of manufacture claim 11, wherein the operations further comprise receiving a second identifier from a second mobile computing device, wherein the second mobile computing device received the content from the mobile computing device.

18. The article of manufacture claim 17, wherein monitoring the exposure of the advertisement based on the identifier comprises updating an advertisement impression count in response to receipt of the second identifier.

19. The article of manufacture claim 11, wherein the operations further comprise monitoring an exposure of the content based on the identifier.

20. The article of manufacture claim 11, wherein the content includes a second advertisement.
