1. A method of correcting the gain of a capacitive member comprising electrodes that are movable relative to each other, with a remanent field established between the electrodes, wherein the method comprises the steps of:

  • applying a reduced DC bias voltage to one of the electrodes, the voltage having a value below a threshold for which a remanent field generated by said reduced bias voltage can be measured;

    measuring an output signal from the capacitive member; and

    calculating a correction for the gain of the capacitive member as a function of the measured output signal.
