1. An assembly comprising:
- a housing, having electronic circuits therein;
a first electronic circuit mounted within the housing, said first electronic circuit storing electronic information indicative of a credit card number, and storing information indicative of at least one encryption key and also storing authorization information for operations of the credit card;
a user interface, that allows changing said authorization information stored in said first electronic circuit; and
a communication device, that carries out electronic communication using said electronic information indicative of the credit card number, said electronic communication using said information indicative of at least one encryption key and using said authorization information, said communication device including sending said electronic information indicative of the credit card number, and sending said authorization information using said information indicative of at least one encryption key as part of a request for authorization of a credit card transaction.

A new credit card system which enables improved reading and other operations. Reading can be done in the short edge of the credit card thereby shortening the aspect ratio and size of the card reader. The reader can be electrical, reading information via contacts, or can be optical readers.

12. A credit card assembly comprising:

18. A method of validating a credit card transaction, comprising:

receiving electronic information indicative of a credit card number as sent from an electronic assembly, and also receiving authorization information stored within the electronic assembly, where said authorization information can be modified by a user of the electronic assembly; determining authorization of a credit card transaction based on both said credit card number and said authorization information that was stored within the electronic assembly; and returning a validation for an electronic transaction only if said credit card number and said authorization information are both information that validate the credit card transaction. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21, 22, 23)
