Abstract

Disclosed are methods of executing a handover related operation in a power saving mode in accordance with handover triggering information. One of the methods of executing handover of a mobile station in a mobile communication system comprises determining an enabled status of at least one handover related operation in a specific operation mode between the mobile station (MS) and a network, receiving control information related to the at least one handover related operation from the net work, entering the specific operation mode, changing the enabled status of the at least one handover related operation in the specific operation mode, and performing the enabled handover related operation in accordance with the changed enabled status and the control information.

Claims

1. A method of executing handover of a mobile station in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

receiving control information associated with handover and first indication information from a service base station, the first indication information indicating at least one action class which is subject to application of the control information; and

performing a handover related operation in accordance with the control information if the mobile station corresponds to the at least one action class indicated by the first indication information.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving second indication information from the service base station, the second indication information indicating whether to enable at least two handover related operations; and

performing at least one handover related operation indicated to be enabled by the second indication information.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first indication information is represented in a bitmap type about whether at least two action classes should be subject to application of the control information.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the second indication information is represented in a bitmap type about whether the at least two handover related operations are enabled.

5. A method of executing handover of a mobile station in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

determining an enabled status of at least one handover related operation in a specific operation mode between the mobile station and a network;

receiving control information related to the at least one handover related operation from the network;

entering the specific operation mode;

changing the enabled status of the at least one handover related operation in the specific operation mode; and

performing the enabled handover related operation in accordance with the changed enabled status and the control information.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the specific operation mode is a power saving mode.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein the enabled status of the at least one handover related operation is determined during a network entry procedure.

8. The method of claim 5, wherein the enabled status is changed when the specific operation mode is defined and enabled.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein the at least one handover related operation includes at least one of scan request, scan report, and handover request.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the change of the enabled status is requested when requesting the network of conversion to the specific operation mode.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the control information includes information related to a condition for performing scan request to the network, a condition for performing scan report, and a condition for performing handover request.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising performing a scan report operation if the scan report operation is enabled and the condition for performing scan report is satisfied.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the scan report operation is performed by transmitting a scanning report message to the network for a communication availability interval.

14. The method of claim 11, further comprising performing a handover request operation if the handover request operation is enabled and the condition for performing handover request is satisfied.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

disabling the power saving mode; and

executing a handover procedure in accordance with a previously determined mode.

16. The method of claim 11, further comprising performing a scan request operation if the scan request operation is enabled and the condition for performing scan request is satisfied.

17. The method of claim 16, if a sleep interval is shorter than a scanning interval, further comprising:

disabling the power saving mode;

being allocated with a scanning interval for scanning of a neighboring base station from the network; and

performing scanning for the allocated scanning interval.

18. The method of claim 16, if a sleep interval is longer than a scanning interval, further comprising performing scanning by using the sleep interval while maintaining the power saving mode.
