Abstract
A pulsewave detection unit is provided, at least a portion of the pulsewave detection unit being configured to be coupled to a portion of a subject'"'"'s body, the pulsewave detection unit generating a signal that is responsive to arterial pressure of the portion of the subject'"'"'s body. A pulsewave parameters determination unit receives respective first and second signals from the pulsewave detection unit, the signals being responsive to arterial pressure of the portion of the subject'"'"'s body while the portion of the pulsewave detection unit that is coupled to the portion of the subject'"'"'s body is at respective first and second heights, at respective times. An arterial parameters calculating unit determines an arterial property of the subject by processing the first and second signals, and generates an output in response to determining the arterial property. Other embodiments are also described.

54. A method, comprising:
-
receiving a first signal that is responsive to arterial pressure of a subject at a first time, while at least a portion of a device that generates the signal, while coupled to a portion of a body of the subject, is at a first height with respect to a heart of the subject; receiving a second signal that is responsive to arterial pressure of the subject at a second time, while the portion of the device is at a second height with respect to the subject'"'"'s heart; determining an arterial property of the subject by processing the first and the second signals; and generating an output in response to determining the arterial property. - View Dependent Claims (57, 60, 66, 67, 68, 73, 74, 76, 78, 79, 80, 81, 84, 96)

100. A computer program product for use with a pulsewave detection unit, at least a portion of which pulsewave detection unit is configured to be coupled to a portion of a subject'"'"'s body, the pulsewave detection unit being configured to generate a signal that is responsive to arterial pressure of the portion of the subject'"'"'s body, the product comprising a computer-readable medium having program instructions embodied therein, which instructions, when read by a computer, cause the computer to:
-
receive respective first and second signals from the pulsewave detection unit, the signals being generated responsively to arterial pressure of the subject at respective times, while the portion of the pulsewave detection unit that is coupled to the portion of the subject'"'"'s body is at respective first and second heights, determine an arterial property of the subject by processing the first and second signals, and generate an output in response to determining the arterial property.
