Abstract
A message box for presenting messages, such as advertising material to target consumers. The message box is suitable for being integrated into existing infrastructure. Further, the message box includes an electronic illumination source that can be pulsed on or off, and at varying intensity levels so as to maximize or increase the ability to attract the attention of the target consumers. Other controls can be applied in operation of the illumination sources so as to create additional attractions to target consumers. The messages can be manually or automatically changed.

20. An apparatus to present message content to a viewer, the apparatus comprising:

an electronic light source; a light intensity detector; a controller that interfaces to the electronic light source and the light intensity detector, the controller being configured to control the electronic light source based at least in part on readings from the light intensity detector; a box enclosure defining an interior and a front opening, the box enclosure for housing the electronic light source, the light intensity detector and the controller and for providing a means for the light intensity detector to be exposed to light proximate to the box; a lens that can receive message content; and a plurality of dimples on the interior of the box enclosure proximate to the front opening for receiving and holding the lens in position.
