Abstract

Embodiments comprise a stackable vehicle which may be supported from, or serve as support to, another like vehicle. The vehicle includes a frame and a body supported from the frame. The body includes a weight bearing roof Wheel assemblies are mounted for rotation on the frame. The body includes recesses from the roof of the body to accommodate location of wheel assemblies of a like vehicle supported on the roof Support and mounting points are located on the roof and on the frame respectively to fix location of a vehicle to be carried on top of a supporting vehicle.

Claims

1. A stackable vehicle comprises:

a vehicle frame;

a weight bearing vehicle body supported from the vehicle frame and having an upper surface;

a plurality of lower support fittings distributed about and depending from the vehicle frame; and

a plurality of upper mounting fittings distributed about the upper surface of the weight bearing vehicle body.

2. A stackable vehicle as set forth in claim 1, wherein

the weight bearing vehicle body is substantially symmetrical about a latitudinal axis;

wheels mounted for rotation from four points on the vehicle frame; and

the weight bearing vertically body is recessed from the upper surface to accommodate a like vehicle supported on the plurality of upper mounting fittings.

3. A stackable vehicle as set forth in claim 2, further comprising:

pairs of upper mounting fittings and lower support fittings being vertically aligned.

4. A stackable vehicle as set forth in claim 3, wherein the eight bearing vehicle body is armored.

5. A stackable vehicle as set forth in claim 4, wherein the vehicle frame is a ladder frame.

6. A vehicle comprising:

four roof support points disposed at vertices of a rectangle;

a vehicle frame; and

an armored body including a roof from which the four roof support points are supported and which provides for transferring loads imposed on the four roof support points to the vehicle frame.

7. A vehicle as claimed in claim 6, further comprising:

four frame support points disposed at vertices of a rectangle on the vehicle frame; and

pairs of roof support points and frame support points are vertically aligned.

8. A vehicle as claimed in claim 7, further comprising:

the armored body being substantially symmetrical about a latitudinal axis;

wheels mounted for rotation from four points on the vehicle frame; and

the armored body including recesses to accommodate wheels of a like vehicle supported on the roof support points.

9. A vehicle as claimed in claim 8, wherein the vehicle frame is a ladder frame.

10. A vehicle comprising:

a frame;

a body including a weight bearing roof, the body being supported on the frame;

wheel assemblies mounted for rotation on the frame; and

body recesses from the weight bearing roof of the body to accommodate location of wheel assemblies of a like vehicle supported on the roof

11. A vehicle as claimed in claim 10, further comprising:

vertically aligned support and mounting points located on the roof and on the frame respectively to fix location of a load carried on the vehicle and to fix the location of the vehicle when carried on a like vehicle.
