Abstract

Displaying a preference by a user of a content contribution is disclosed. A preference event by the user is detected. A plurality of detected events is stored. In response to a query from a client, at least a portion of the stored detected events is stored. At least a portion of the received events is displayed in an interface.

Claims

1. A method of displaying a preference by a user of a content contribution comprising:

detecting a preference event by the user;

storing a plurality of detected events;

in response to a query from a client, sending at least a portion of the stored detected preference events; and

causing at least a portion of the received events to be displayed in a stack interface.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the query is received periodically.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the stack interface includes icons that represent different types of preference events.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the stack interface can be configured to display a subset of preference events.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the stack interface includes a zoom control.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the stack interface includes a pause control.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the stack interface includes a control that allows the client to selectively show or hide representations of content contributions.

8. The method of claim 1 further comprising causing the received preference events to be animated.

17. The method of claim 1 wherein the swarm interface includes a control that allows the client to selectively show or hide representations of content contributions.

9. A system for displaying a preference by a user of a content contribution, including:

a processor; and

a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions which when executed cause the processor to;

detect a preference event by the user;

store a plurality of detected events;

in response to a query from a client, send at least a portion of the stored detected preference events; and

cause at least a portion of the received events to be displayed in a stack interface.

10. A computer program product for displaying a preference by a user of a content contribution, the computer program product being embodied in a computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:

detecting a preference event by the user;

storing a plurality of detected events;

in response to a query from a client, sending at least a portion of the stored detected preference events; and

causing at least a portion of the received events to be displayed in a stack interface.

11. A method of displaying a preference by a user of a content contribution comprising:

detecting a preference event by the user;

storing a plurality of detected events;

in response to a query from a client, sending at least a portion of the stored detected preference events; and

causing at least a portion of the received events to be displayed in a swarm interface.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the query is received periodically.

13. The method of claim 11 wherein a representation of the content contribution is shown in different sizes based on the number of preference events associated with the content contribution.

14. The method of claim 11 wherein a representation of the user is shown in different sizes based on the number of preference events taken by the user.

15. The method of claim 11 wherein the detected preference event is a first detected preference event taken by the user, and wherein the content contribution is one of a plurality of content contributions, and further comprising detecting a second preference event taken by the user, and further comprising displaying an indication that the user has taken preference events with respect to multiple content contributions.

16. The method of claim 11 further comprising causing the received preference events to be animated.

18. A system for displaying a preference by a user of a content contribution, including:

a processor; and

a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions which when executed cause the processor to;

detect a preference event by the user;

store a plurality of detected events;

in response to a query from a client, send at least a portion of the stored detected preference events; and

cause at least a portion of the received events to be displayed in a swarm interface.

19. A computer program product for displaying a preference by a user of a content contribution, the computer program product being embodied in a computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:

detecting a preference event by the user;

storing a plurality of detected events;

in response to a query from a client, sending at least a portion of the stored detected preference events; and

causing at least a portion of the received events to be displayed in a swarm interface.
