Abstract

A method for creating an artistically coordinated image display. A digital template is provided for said image display and it includes of openings for placing images each having at least one required attribute for an image. A programmed computer system automatically searches a database of images for images to be placed in the openings and each of the images satisfy the openings required image attributes. One or more vertical and horizontal lines are demarcated in the so that subjects in the image can be placed on the lines or their intersecting points by modifying and shifting the image appropriately. A subject of the image can also be measured and its size can be set as a reference measurement unit to assist in aesthetically placing subjects proportionally within the image.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for creating a coordinated image display, comprising the steps of:

providing a digital template for said image display, said template having a plurality of openings each having at least one required attribute;

automatically searching a database of images each having at least one image attribute corresponding thereto for finding at least one image for placement in at least one of the openings in said digital template, each of said at least one image satisfying a required attribute of said one or more openings;

demarcating a first vertical line in said at least one image;

demarcating a first horizontal line in said at least one image;

identifying a face in said at least one image, including modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on one of the demarcated lines.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of modifying includes modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on the first vertical line.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising the steps of:

demarcating a second vertical line in said at least one image;

demarcating a second horizontal line in said at least one image; and

modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on one of the second demarcated lines.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the step of modifying includes the step of modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on an intersecting point of one of the first and second vertical lines and one of the first and second horizontal lines.

The method of claim 3, wherein the step of demarcating the first and second vertical lines includes demarcating the first vertical line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the width of the image from a leftmost point of the image and demarcating the second vertical line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the width of the image from a rightmost point of the image.

The method of claim 3, wherein the step of demarcating the first and second horizontal lines includes demarcating the first horizontal line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the height of the image from a topmost point of the image and demarcating the second horizontal line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the height of the image from a bottommost point of the image.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the step of modifying includes the step of modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on an intersecting point of one of the first and second vertical lines and one of the first and second horizontal lines.

8. A computer implemented method for creating a coordinated image display, comprising the steps of:

providing a digital template for said image display, said template having a plurality of openings each having at least one required attribute; and

automatically searching a database of images each having at least one image attribute corresponding thereto for finding at least one image for placement in at least one of the openings in said digital template, each of said at least one image satisfying a required attribute of said one or more openings;

identifying a face in said at least one image, including identifying a width of the face and setting the identified width as a primary measurement unit for the image.

9. The computer implemented method of claim 8, further comprising:

selectively zooming said at least one image until a distance between two preselected points in said at least one image is approximately the distance of one primary measurement unit.

10. The computer implemented method of claim 8, further comprising:

selectively zooming said at least one image until a distance between two preselected points in said at least one image is approximately a preselected fraction of one primary measurement unit.

11. The computer implemented method of claim 8, further comprising:

selectively zooming said at least one image until a distance between two preselected points in said at least one image is approximately a preselected multiple of one primary measurement unit.

12. The computer implemented method of claim 11, wherein one of the two preselected points in said at least one image is a leftmost point of the image and the other of the two preselected points in said at least one image is a rightmost point of the image.

13. A computer system for creating a coordinated image display, comprising:

a storage area comprising a digital template for said image display, said template having a plurality of openings each having at least one required image attribute stored in association therewith;

a database of images accessible by the computer system, each having at least one image attribute corresponding thereto; and

a processor for;

automatically searching the database of images for finding at least one image for placement in at least one of the openings in said digital template, each of said at least one image satisfying a required attribute of said at least one of the openings;

automatically demarcating a first vertical line in said at least one image;

automatically demarcating a first horizontal line in said at least one image; and

automatically identifying a face in said at least one image, including automatically modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on one of the demarcated lines.

14. The computer system of claim 13, wherein the processor is also for automatically modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on the first vertical line.

15. The computer system of claim 13, wherein the processor is also for:

automatically demarcating a second vertical line in said at least one image;

automatically demarcating a second horizontal line in said at least one image; and

automatically modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on one of the second demarcated lines.

16. The computer system of claim 15, wherein the processor is also for automatically modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on an intersecting point of one of the first and second vertical lines and one of the first and second horizontal lines.

17. The computer system of claim 15, wherein the processor is also for automatically demarcating the first vertical line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the width of the image from a leftmost point of the image and also for automatically demarcating the second vertical line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the width of the image from a rightmost point of the image.

The computer system of claim 15, wherein the processor is also for automatically demarcating the first horizontal line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the height of the image from a topmost point of the image and also for automatically demarcating the second horizontal line such that it is disposed approximately one third of the height of the image from a bottommost point of the image.

19. The computer system of claim 18, wherein the processor is also for automatically modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on an intersecting point of one of the first and second vertical lines and one of the first and second horizontal lines.

20. A computer implemented method for creating a coordinated image display, comprising the steps of:

providing a digital template for said image display, said template having a plurality of openings each having at least one required attribute;

automatically searching a database of images each having at least one image attribute corresponding thereto for finding at least one image for placement in at least one of the openings in said digital template, each of said at least one image satisfying a required attribute of said one or more openings;

demarcating a first vertical line in said at least one image; and

identifying a face in said at least one image, including modifying said at least one image so that the face is disposed on the vertical line.
