Abstract

A system tool merges different load forecasts for power grid centers. A plurality of load forecast engines are coupled to a load forecast interface and a relational data base that saves load forecast engine data as an input through the load forecast interface. A comprehensive operating plan is coupled to the load forecast engines and the relational database. The comprehensive operating plan is configured to integrate individual load forecasts into a composite load forecast to present a comprehensive, synchronized and harmonized load forecast. A program interface provides access to the composite load forecasting schedule.

Claims

1. A system tool that merges different load forecasts for power grid centers, comprising:

a plurality of load forecast engines;

a load forecast interface;

a relational data base that saves load forecast engine data as an input through the load forecast interface;

a comprehensive operating plan coupled to the load forecast engines and the relational database and configured to integrate individual load forecasts into a composite load forecast to present a comprehensive, synchronized and harmonized load forecast; and

a program interface that provides access to the composite load forecasting schedule.

2. The tool of claim 1, further comprising,

a user interface that allows an operator to review input load forecasts and to modify load forecasts with an override capability.

3. The tool of claim 1, wherein the user interface is configured to enable an operator to support manual override capability

4. The tool of claim 1, further comprising:

a merging tool coupled to the comprehensive operating plan that merges the individual load forecasts that cover a same time range to form the composite load forecast.

5. The tool of claim 1, further comprising:

a persistence store to hold load forecast data.

6. The tool of claim 1, wherein improved load forecasts are provided over different time horizons.

7. The tool of claim 1, further comprising:

an operator interface that permits an operator to view the individual load forecasts and the composite load forecast and perform an operator override selected from at least one of, scaling, adding, setting and linear transformation.

14. The tool of claim 1, further comprising:

a set of front end programming'"'"'s for inputting and retrieving load forecasts along with boundary processing.

15. The tool of claim 14, wherein boundary processing includes at least one of priority and averaging.

16. The tool of claim 1, further comprising:

a middle-tier architecture.

17. The tool of claim 16, further comprising:

an service layer for web services, and exposes services to client applications in the middle-tier architecture.

18. The tool of claim 17, further comprising:

an internal service layer in the middle-tier architecture.

19. The tool of claim 18, wherein the internal service layer interfaces within public services and data exchange layers to provide uniformity in handling interactions irrespective of a client technology.

20. The tool of claim 18, further comprising:

a business layer that contains core business functionality in the middle-tier architecture.

8. A system tool that merges different load forecasts for power grid centers, comprising:

a plurality of load forecast engines within a common service framework;

a load forecast interface;

a relational data base coupled that saves load forecast engine data as an input thru the load forecast interface; and

a comprehensive operating plan coupled to the load forecast engines and the relational database and configured to integrate individual load forecasts into a composite load forecast to present a comprehensive, synchronized and harmonized load forecast.

9. The tool of claim 8, wherein load forecast requests from different clients are served with consistent load forecast data.

10. The tool of claim 8, further comprising:

an operator interface to the plurality of load forecast engines and configured to streamline with a reduction of repetitive manual entries.

11. The tool of claim 8, further comprising:

a merging tool coupled to the comprehensive operating plan that merges the individual load forecasts that cover a same time range to form the composite load forecast.

12. The tool of claim 11, wherein the merging tool synthesizes a composite load profile for any given scheduling study period.

13. The tool of claim 12, wherein the merging tool applies a weighting factor model to synthesize the composite load profile.
