Abstract

A light-emitting system includes a first and second power input terminals for receiving an external power input to the light-emitting system; a first light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes placed sequentially in a first direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the first light-emitting-diode string generally in the first direction; and a second light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes placed sequentially in a second direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the second light-emitting-diode string generally in the second direction, The first and second light-emitting-diode strings may be serially coupled, and the first direction may be substantially vertical to the second direction.

Claims

1. A light-emitting system comprising:

a first power input terminal and a second power input terminal for receiving an external power input to the light-emitting system;

a first light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes placed sequentially in a first direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the first light-emitting-diode string generally in the first direction; and

a second light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes placed sequentially in a second direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the second light-emitting-diode string generally in the second direction,

wherein the first light-emitting-diode string and the second light-emitting-diode string are serially coupled between the first power input terminal and the second power input terminal, and the first direction is substantially vertical to the second direction.

2. A light-emitting system of claim 1, wherein the first power input terminal, the second power input terminal, the first light-emitting-diode string, and the second light-emitting-diode string belong to a single chip light-emitting system.

3. A light-emitting system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the at least three light-emitting diodes in the first light-emitting-diode string and the at least three light-emitting diodes in the second light-emitting-diode string comprises micro diodes.

A light-emitting system of claim 1, further comprising a third light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes placed sequentially in a third direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the third light-emitting-diode string generally in the third direction,

wherein the first light-emitting-diode string, the second light-emitting-diode string, and the third light-emitting-diode string are serially coupled between the first power input terminal and the second power input terminal, and the second light-emitting-diode string and the third light-emitting-diode string are arranged in a non-parallel manner.

5. A light-emitting system of claim 4, wherein the second light-emitting-diode string and the third light-emitting-diode string are arranged in substantially vertical directions.

6. A light-emitting system of claim 4, wherein the first light-emitting-diode string and the third light-emitting-diode string are arranged in substantially opposite directions.

7. A light-emitting system comprising:

a first power input terminal and a second power input terminal for receiving an external power input to the light-emitting system;

a first light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes arranged in a first direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the first light-emitting-diode string generally in the first direction; and

a second light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes arranged in a second direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the second light-emitting-diode string generally in the second direction,

wherein the first light-emitting-diode string and the second light-emitting-diode string are serially coupled between the first power input terminal and the second power input terminal, and the first light-emitting-diode string and the second light-emitting-diode string are arranged in non-parallel directions.

8. A light-emitting system of claim 7, wherein the first power input terminal, the second power input terminal, the first light-emitting-diode string, and the second light-emitting-diode string belong to a single chip light-emitting system.

9. A light-emitting system of claim 7, wherein the first light-emitting-diode string and the second light-emitting-diode string are arranged in substantially vertical directions.

10. A light-emitting system of claim 7, wherein at least one of the at least three light-emitting diodes in the first light-emitting-diode string and the at least three light-emitting diodes in the second light-emitting-diode string comprise micro diodes.

11. A light-emitting system of claim 7, further comprising:

a third light-emitting-diode string comprising at least three light-emitting diodes arranged in a third direction to allow a current flow through the at least three light-emitting diodes of the first light-emitting-diode string generally in the third direction,

wherein the first light-emitting-diode string, the second light-emitting-diode string, and the third light-emitting-diode string are serially coupled between the first power input terminal and the second power input terminal, and the second light-emitting-diode string and the third light-emitting-diode string are arranged in non-parallel directions.

12. A light-emitting system of claim 11, wherein the second light-emitting-diode string and the third light-emitting-diode string are arranged in substantially vertical directions.

13. A light-emitting system of claim 11, wherein the first light-emitting-diode string and the third light-emitting-diode string are arranged in substantially opposite directions.
