MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION AND PRESENTATION
First Claim
1. A computer-implemented method for entry and modification. of multimedia objects in electronic communication, the method being implemented in a computer system including one or more processors configured to execute computer program modules, the method comprising:
- storing to a computer readable medium accessible to the computer system a set of mnemonic names associated with multimedia objects, the set of mnemonic names including a first mnemonic name associated with a first multimedia object;
receiving sequences of control inputs from a first user to the computer system, the control inputs designating content of an electronic communication from the first user to a second user; and
replacing, in the electronic communication from the first user to the second user, mnemonic names from the stored set of mnemonic names present in the received sequences of control inputs with associated multimedia objects such that responsive to the first mnemonic name being present in one of the received sequences control inputs, the first mnemonic name is replaced in the electronic communication with the first multimedia object.

Abstract
The invention provides a method and system for entry and editing of multimedia objects for communication and presentation, associating multimedia objects with received sequences of keystroke or mouse action abbreviations. When an abbreviation is detected, the abbreviation is replaced with the associated multimedia object. Each multimedia object has editable properties, and each set of multimedia objects can be collected into an ensemble, which itself can have editable properties. One such ensemble property is a “theme,” which presents a variant of each multimedia object consistent with the theme.

9. A system configured for to enable entry and modification of multimedia elements in electronic communication, the system comprising:
-
a database comprising a set of mnemonic names and associated multimedia objects, the set of mnemonic names including a first mnemonic name associated with a first multimedia object; one or more processors in operative communication with the database, the one or more processors being configured (i) to receive sequences of control inputs from a first user input by the first user through an input device, the control inputs designating content of an electronic communication from the first user to a second user, and (ii) to replace, in the electronic communication from the first user to the second user, mnemonic names from the set of mnemonic names present in the sequences of control inputs with associated multimedia objects such that responsive to the first mnemonic name being present in a received sequence of control inputs, the first mnemonic name is replaced in the electronic communication with the first multimedia object. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)

17. A computer-implemented method for entry and modification of multimedia objects in electronic communication, the method being implemented in a computer system including one or more processors configured to execute computer program modules, the method comprising:
-
storing to a computer readable medium accessible to the computer system a set of mnemonic names associated with sets of multimedia objects, the set of mnemonic names including a first mnemonic name associated with a first set of multimedia objects, the first set of multimedia objects comprising a first multimedia object and a second multimedia object; receiving sequences of control inputs from a first user to the computer system, the control inputs designating content of an electronic communication from the first user to a second user; identifying, in the received sequences of control inputs from the first user, occurrences of mnemonic names from the set of mnemonic names, including occurrences of the first mnemonic name; responsive to identification of an occurrence of the first mnemonic name in the received sequences of control inputs, determining which multimedia object from the first set of multimedia objects should replace the identified occurrence of the first mnemonic name in the electronic message from the first user to the second user; and replacing, in the electronic communication from the first user to the second user, the identified occurrence of the first mnemonic name in the received sequence of control inputs with the determined multimedia object from the first set of multimedia objects. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20, 21, 22)
