Abstract

Methods and systems for providing an electronic version of a printed paper, where the electronic version is a translation of another version of the printed paper.

Claims

1. A method performed by a computer system, comprising:

providing a first electronic version of a printed paper to a user at a display device, wherein;

the first electronic version of the paper is displayable on the display device as a likeness of the paper,

the first electronic version of the paper has been translated from a second version of the printed paper using a content preparation system to receive the second version of the printed paper, the second version including a first portion associated with a first location within the printed paper; and

translate the second version into the first version of the paper, wherein translating the second version into the first version comprises translating the first portion into a second portion displayable in the likeness of the printed paper at a second location within the likeness of the printed paper.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein first portion comprises first content, the second portion comprises second content, and the first content is different from the second content.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first location in the printed papers is equivalent to the second location in the likeness of the printed paper.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the first version has a first digital format and the second version has a second digital format.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the first version is an electronic version of the printed paper.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the electronic version is a bitmap, gif or jpeg.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the first version is compressed.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the first version has been encrypted.

9. A system, comprising a content delivery system for:

providing a first electronic version of a printed paper to a user at a display device, wherein;

the first electronic version of the paper is displayable on the display device as a likeness of the paper,

the first electronic version of the paper has been translated from a second version of the printed paper using a content preparation system to receive the second version of the printed paper, the second version including a first portion associated with a first location within the printed paper; and

translate the second version into the first version of the paper, wherein translating the second version into the first version comprises translating the first portion into a second portion displayable in the likeness of the printed paper at a second location within the likeness of the printed paper.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein first portion comprises first content, the second portion comprises second content, and the first content is different from the second content.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the first location in the printed papers is equivalent to the second location in the likeness of the printed paper.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the first version has a first digital format and the second version has a second digital format.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the first version is an electronic version of the printed paper.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the electronic version is a bitmap, gif or jpeg.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the content preparation system is further for compressing the second version.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the content preparation system is further for encrypting the second version.

17. A tangible computer readable storage medium, comprising instructions for:

providing a first electronic version of a printed paper to a user at a display device, wherein;

the first electronic version of the paper is displayable on the display device as a likeness of the paper,

the first electronic version of the paper has been translated from a second version of the printed paper using a content preparation system to receive the second version of the printed paper, the second version including a first portion associated with a first location within the printed paper; and

translate the second version into the first version of the paper, wherein translating the second version into the first version comprises translating the first portion into a second portion displayable in the likeness of the printed paper at a second location within the likeness of the printed paper.

18. The computer readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein first portion comprises first content, the second portion comprises second content, and the first content is different from the second content.

19. The computer readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the first location in the printed papers is equivalent to the second location in the likeness of the printed paper.

20. The computer readable storage medium of claim 19, wherein the first version has a first digital format and the second version has a second digital format.

21. The computer readable storage medium of claim 20, wherein the first version is an electronic version of the printed paper.

22. The computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the electronic version is a bitmap, gif or jpeg.

23. The computer readable storage medium of claim 22, wherein the first version is compressed.

24. The computer readable storage medium of claim 23, wherein the first version has been encrypted.
