1. A method for cutting information and pasting the information into an electronic book displayed on a viewer, comprising:
- receiving a first request from the subscriber to cut selected information from an information source;
removing and saving the selected information from the information source;
receiving a second request from the subscriber to paste the selected information into an electronic book; and

Abstract
An electronic book having various features for manipulating text or other information. The subscriber may highlight, cut and paste, copy and paste, and annotate information within an electronic book. A multiple page view feature permits the subscriber to simultaneously view any plurality of pages of an electronic book, and a multiple screen feature permits the subscriber to view one or more pages on a viewer having multiple screens. A picture-in-picture feature permits the subscriber to simultaneously view a page of an electronic book along with other content, such as a television program or information from another electronic book. The picture-in-picture feature may display an electronic book page as a main image wrapped around an inset image.

9. An apparatus that manipulates images in an electronic book viewer, comprising:

a display that displays a portion of an electronic book, wherein the portion of the electronic book is displayed as an image comprising one or more of text, graphics, data, information, still video and moving video; a control that receives a command to manipulate the portion of the electronic book; a processor that interprets the commands, the processor causing the display to alter the image provided by the portion of the electronic book; and a memory that stores the altered image.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising a task bar, the task bar including commands that can be used to manipulate the images.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the commands include one or more of highlight, cut, paste, zoom, and rescale.

19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the television program is provided by on of a set top terminal, a video tape recorder tuner, a video connector, a personal computer, a telephone system, an Internet and a television broadcast.

20. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the picture-in-picture image is manipulated by selecting the window and by selecting all of or a portion of the picture-in-picture image for manipulation.

The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising one or more additional displays, the one or more additional displays capable of connection to the electronic book viewer, wherein the processor manipulates the image to display separate sections of the image on each of the display and the one or more additional displays.

22. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the commands are entered using one or more of a wired keyboard, a wireless keyboard and a soft keyboard.

23. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the one or more additional displays comprise hinges, wherein the one or more additional displays fold in a same manner as pages in a book.
