Abstract

A vehicle information providing method and a terminal applying the same are provided. The vehicle information providing method includes communicably connecting to a Global Positioning System (GPS) mounted on a vehicle, receiving location information from the GPS and receiving vehicle information from a vehicle information system based on the received location information. Accordingly, the terminal may receive the location information of the vehicle inside the vehicle even though the terminal has no GPS.

Claims

1. A vehicle information providing, method, comprising:

communicably connecting to a Global Positioning System (GPS) mounted on a vehicle;

receiving location information from the GPS; and

receiving vehicle information from a vehicle information system based on the received location information.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

setting a destination according to a user'"'"'s manipulation.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying an expected arrival time when the vehicle is expected to arrive at a destination based on the location information and the vehicle information.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

setting an alarm at a predetermined time before the vehicle arrives at the destination.

5. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

setting an alarm at a predetermined distance before the vehicle arrives at the destination.

6. The method of claim 2, wherein setting a destination comprises setting the destination by receiving the user'"'"'s selection command on a bus line or a bus displayed on a screen.

7. The method of claim 2, wherein setting a destination comprises receiving information regarding another terminal and setting location of the another terminal as the destination using the information of the another terminal.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

displaying current movement information of the vehicle based on the location information and the vehicle information.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

if a communicable connection with the GPS mounted on the vehicle is completed, inactivating an internal GPS located in the terminal.

10. A terminal comprising:

a communication unit which is communicably connected to a GPS mounted on a vehicle; and

a controller which controls receiving of location information from the GPS and receiving vehicle information from a vehicle information system based on the received location information.

11. The terminal of claim 10, wherein the controller sets a destination according to a user'"'"'s manipulation.

12. The terminal of claim 11, wherein the controller identifies an expected arrival time when the vehicle is expected to arrive at the destination based on the location information and the vehicle information.

13. The terminal of claim 12, wherein the controller sets an alarm at a predetermined time before the vehicle arrives at the destination.

14. The terminal of claim 12, wherein the controller sets an alarm at a predetermined distance before the vehicle arrives at the destination.

15. The terminal of claim 11, wherein the controller sets the destination by receiving a user'"'"'s selection command on a bus line of a bus displayed on a screen.

16. The terminal of claim 11, wherein the controller receives information regarding another terminal and sets a location of the another terminal as the destination using the information of the another terminal.

17. The terminal of claim 10, wherein the controller controls display of current movement information of the vehicle based on the location information and the vehicle information.

18. The terminal of claim 10, further comprising:

an internal GPS which receives location information,

wherein the controller, if the communication unit is communicably connected to the GPS mounted on a vehicle, inactivates the internal GPS.
