IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS AND LUMINANCE CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
First Claim
1. An image display apparatus, comprising:
- a display panel;
a calculation circuit that calculates a luminance control value, which is a parameter for controlling display luminance, for each frame of a video signal to be displayed on the display panel; and
a luminance control circuit that controls the display luminance of the frame using the luminance control value calculated by the calculation circuit, whereinwhen the video signal is a video signal in which one image is constituted by a plurality of frames, the luminance control circuit applies a same luminance control value to the plurality of frames constituting one image, or decreases the difference of the luminance control values applied to the plurality of frames constituting one image to be lower than a predetermined value.

Abstract
An image display apparatus includes: a display panel; a calculation circuit that calculates a luminance control value, which is a parameter for controlling display luminance, for each frame of a video signal to be displayed on the display panel; and a luminance control circuit that controls the display luminance of the frame using the luminance control value calculated by the calculation circuit. When the video signal is a video signal in which one image is constituted by a plurality of frames, the luminance control circuit applies a same luminance control value to the plurality of frames constituting one image, or decreases the difference of the luminance control values applied to the plurality of frames constituting one image to be lower than a predetermined value.

7. A luminance control method for an image display apparatus having a display panel, comprising:
-
a calculation step of calculating a luminance control value, which is a parameter for controlling display luminance, for each frame of a video signal to be displayed on the display panel; and a luminance control step of controlling the display luminance of the frame using the luminance control value calculated in the calculation step, wherein when the video signal is a video signal in which one image is constituted by a plurality of frames, a same luminance control value is applied to the plurality of frames constituting one image, or the difference of the luminance control values applied to the plurality of frames constituting one image is decreased to be lower than a predetermined value in the luminance control step.
