Abstract

A conjugate of a randomly and asymmetrically branched dendritic polymer and a member of a binding pair.

Claims

1. A conjugate comprising:

(a) a modified randomly branched dendritic polymer without a core comprising a functional group for branch formation, wherein said randomly branched dendritic polymer without a core comprises chain branches, terminal branches or both, and said randomly branched dendritic polymer without a core comprises random, asymmetric branches and random asymmetric branch junctions; and

(b) a member of a binding pair.

2. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said randomly branched dendritic polymer comprises a modified polyethyleneimine.

3. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said randomly branched dendritic polymer comprises a modified polyoxazoline.

4. The conjugate of claim 3, wherein said modified polyoxazoline comprises a modified poly (2-methyoxazoline) or a modified poly (2-ethyloxazoline).

5. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said randomly branched dendritic polymer comprises a modified polylysine.

6. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said binding pair comprises a polynucleotide, an antibody, an antigen-binding portion thereof, an antigen or an epitope-containing portion thereof.

7. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said member of said binding pair binds a polymer, a hormone, a neurotransmitter, a pathogen, a toxin or a drug.

8. The conjugate of claim 7, wherein said polymer comprises a polypeptide, a polysaccharide or a polynucleotide.

9. The conjugate of claim 8, wherein said polypeptide comprises an enzyme.

10. The conjugate of claim 8, wherein said polypeptide comprises an antibody, an antigen-binding portion thereof, an antigen or an epitope-containing portion thereof.

11. The conjugate of claim 8, wherein said polynucleotide comprises a DNA or an RNA.

12. The conjugate of claim 10, wherein said antigen-binding polypeptide comprises an immunoglobulin or antigen-binding portion thereof.

13. The conjugate of claim 11, wherein said RNA comprises an RNAi.

14. The conjugate of claim 7, wherein said polymer comprises a polyethylene glycol.

15. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said member of said binding pair comprises an avidin, an antibody which binds a drug, or both, wherein said drug comprises a digoxin.

16. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said member of said binding pair comprises a biotin, an antibody which binds a drug, or both, wherein said drug comprises a digoxin.

17. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said member of said binding pair comprises streptavidin.

18. The conjugate of claim 1, wherein said member of said binding pair comprises colloidal gold.

19. The conjugate of claim 7, wherein said pathogen comprises a bacterium, a spore, a parasite or a virus.

20. The conjugate of claim 1, further comprising a solid phase.

21. The conjugate of claim 20, wherein said solid phase comprises a surface.

22. The conjugate of claim 21, wherein said surface comprises a membrane.

23. The conjugate of claim 22, wherein said membrane comprises nitrocellulose.

24. The conjugate of claim 21, wherein said surface comprises a plastic.

25. The conjugate of claim 21, wherein said surface comprises a plate.

26. The conjugate of claim 25, wherein said plate comprises a microtiter plate.
