Abstract

A method for determining an output signal is provided. A radio device identifier associated with a second radio device is stored in a first radio device. One or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device are stored in the first radio device. The first radio device identifies the second radio device based on the radio device identifier. In response to identifying the second radio device, the first radio device automatically determines the configuration parameter settings should be used to determine an output signal based on a user input. The first radio device establishes a radio communications link with the second radio device. The first radio device receives the user input. Based on the configuration parameter settings and the user input, the first radio device determines the output signal. The first radio device transmits the output signal to the second radio device through the radio communications link.

Claims

1. A method for determining an output signal comprising:

storing, in a first radio device, a radio device identifier associated with a second radio device;

storing, in the first radio device, one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device;

the first radio device identifying the second radio device based on the radio device identifier associated with the second radio device;

in response to the first radio device identifying the second radio device, the first radio device automatically determining the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device should be used to determine an output signal based on a user input;

the first radio device establishing a radio communications link with the second radio device;

the first radio device receiving the user input;

the first radio device determining the output signal based on;

the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device; and

the user input; and

the first radio device transmitting the output signal to the second radio device through the radio communications link.

The method of claim 1, wherein the first radio device determining the output signal comprises determining, based on the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device, whether to modify the user input based on one or more of the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first radio device determining the output signal comprises modifying the user input based on one or more of the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

storing a plurality of radio device identifiers in the first radio device, the plurality of radio device identifiers comprising the identifier of the second radio device; and

storing a plurality of configuration parameter settings in the first radio device, the plurality of configuration parameter settings comprising the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first radio device comprises a radio control transmit controller for a radio control unit.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the second radio device comprises a radio control receiver for a radio control unit.

7. A first radio device for determining an output signal, the first radio device configured to:

store a radio device identifier associated with a second radio device;

storing one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device;

identify the second radio device based on the radio device identifier associated with the second radio device;

in response to identifying the second radio device, automatically determine the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device should be used to determine an output signal based on a user input;

establish a radio communications link with the second radio device;

receive the user input;

determine the output signal based on;

the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device; and

the user input; and

transmit the output signal to the second radio device through the radio communications link.

The first radio device of claim 7, wherein the configuration to determine the output signal comprises a configuration to determine, based on the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device, whether to modify the user input based on one or more of the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device.

9. The first radio device of claim 7, wherein the configuration to determine the output signal comprises a configuration to modify the user input based on one or more of the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device.

10. The first radio device of claim 7, wherein the first radio device is further configured to:

store a plurality of radio device identifiers, the plurality of radio device identifiers comprising the identifier of the second radio device; and

store the plurality of configuration parameter settings comprising the one or more configuration parameter settings associated with the second radio device.

11. The first radio device of claim 7, wherein the first radio device comprises a radio control transmit controller for a radio control unit.

12. The first radio device of claim 7, wherein the second radio device comprises a radio control receiver for a radio control unit.

13. A method for determining a command for a radio control receiver comprising:

storing a plurality of identifiers in a radio control transmit controller, each identifier comprising an identifier of a radio control receiver;

storing a plurality of configuration profiles in the transmit controller, each configuration profile associated with an identifier in the plurality of identifiers, each configuration profile comprising one or more parameter settings;

the transmit controller identifying a receiver having an identifier in the plurality of identifiers;

in response to the transmit controller identifying the receiver, the transmit controller selecting a configuration profile in the plurality of configuration profiles, the configuration profile associated with the identifier of the receiver;

the transmit controller establishing a radio communications link with the receiver;

the transmit controller receiving a user input command;

the transmit controller determining an output command based on the selected configuration profile and the user input command; and

the transmit controller transmitting the output command to the receiver through the radio communications link.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising the receiver transmitting the output command to a radio control unit.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the transmit controller determining the output command comprises determining, based on the selected configuration profile, whether to modify the user input command based on the selected configuration profile.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the transmit controller determining the output command comprises modifying the user input command based on the selected configuration profile.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein the selected configuration profile determines the direction of rotation of a servo.

18. The method of claim 13, wherein the selected configuration profile determines the steering of a radio control unit.

19. The method of claim 13, wherein the selected configuration profile determines the throttle of a radio control unit.

20. The method of claim 13, wherein the selected configuration profile determines at least one of the servo reversing, steering sensitivity, throttle sensitivity, steering percentage, braking percentage, throttle trim, steering end points, throttle end points, steering sub-trim, and throttle sub-trim of a radio control unit.

21. A radio control transmit controller for determining a command for a radio control receiver, the radio control transmit controller configured to:

store a plurality of identifiers, each identifier comprising an identifier of a radio control receiver;

store a plurality of configuration profiles, each configuration profile associated with an identifier in the plurality of identifiers, each configuration profile comprising one or more parameter settings;

identify a receiver having an identifier in the plurality of identifiers;

in response to identifying the receiver, selecting a configuration profile in the plurality of configuration profiles, the configuration profile associated with the identifier of the receiver;

establish a radio communications link with the receiver;

receive a user input command;

determine an output command based on the selected configuration profile and the user input command; and

transmit the output command to the receiver through the radio communications link.

22. The radio control transmit controller of claim 21, wherein the transmit controller is further configured to:

transmit the output command to a radio control unit through the radio communications link and the receiver.

23. The radio control transmit controller of claim 21, wherein the configuration to determine the output command comprises a configuration to determine, based on the selected configuration profile, whether to modify the user input command based on the selected configuration profile.

24. The radio control transmit controller of claim 21, wherein the configuration to determine the output command comprises a configuration to modify the user input command based on the selected configuration profile.

25. The radio control transmit controller of claim 21, wherein the selected configuration profile determines the direction of rotation of a servo.

26. The radio control transmit controller of claim 21, wherein the selected configuration profile determines the steering of a radio control unit.

27. The radio control transmit controller of claim 21, wherein the selected configuration profile determines the throttle of a radio control unit.

28. The radio control transmit controller of claim 21, wherein the selected configuration profile determines at least one of the servo reversing, steering sensitivity, throttle sensitivity, steering percentage, braking percentage, throttle trim, steering end points, throttle end points, steering sub-trim, and throttle sub-trim of a radio control unit.
