Abstract

Media bundles that can be submitted, distributed and utilized to facilitate media presentations at client devices. Each media presentation is typically associated with a digital media asset. The media bundles can include or identify various digital media assets for use in the media presentations and can provide computer instructions for controlling the media presentations. The resulting media presentations can provide multimedia experiences for users of client devices.

Claims

1. A computer readable medium, comprising:

at least one digital media bundle, the digital media bundle including at least

associated media item information that identifies at least a media item in a media library accessible to a client computing device that is associated with the digital media bundle; and

computer program code for coordinating playback of a media presentation at the client computing device,

wherein the media presentation pertains to the media item.

2. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 1, wherein the at least one digital media bundle further comprising:

bundle media content utilized by the media presentation.

3. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 2, wherein the bundle media content includes at least one media item.

4. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 3, wherein the at least one media item is selected from the group consisting of an image file, a video file or an audio file.

5. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 1, wherein the computer program code is a JavaScript program.

6. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 1, wherein the computer readable medium further comprises:

mapping data configured to associate vendor identifiers to distributor identifiers, and

wherein the mapping data is used to assist the computer program code in locating at least one presentation media item in the media library.

7. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 6, wherein the mapping data maps the vendor identifier for the at least one presentation media item used in the computer program code to a distributor identifier used in the media library.

8. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 6,

wherein the client computing device includes at least a processor and a display device, and

wherein the media library is a local media library resident on the client computing device, and wherein, to provide the media presentation on the client computing device, the processor performs the computer program code and accesses the at least one media item from the local media library using the mapping data.

9. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 8, wherein the media presentation allows a user of the client device to interact with the client computing device to influence the media presentation.

10. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 1,

wherein the client computing device includes at least a processor and a display device, and

wherein the media library is a media library accessible to the client computing device, and wherein, to provide the media presentation on the client computing device, the processor performs the computer program code and accesses the at least one media item from the media library.

11. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 1, wherein the at least one digital media bundle is provided in a compressed electronic folder.

12. A computer readable medium, comprising:

at least one digital media bundle, the digital media bundle including at least

associated media item information that identifies at least a media item in a media library accessible to a client computing device that is associated with the digital media bundle;

mapping data configured to associate vendor identifiers to distributor identifiers; and

computer program code for coordinating playback of a media presentation at the client computing device, wherein the media presentation pertains to the media item, and wherein the mapping data is used to assist the computer program code in locating at least one presentation media item in the media library.

13. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 12,

wherein the at least one digital media bundle further includes:

bundle media content utilized by the media presentation,

wherein the bundle media content includes at least one media item, and

wherein the at least one media item is selected from the group consisting of an image file, a video file or an audio file.

14. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 12, wherein the mapping data maps the vendor identifier for the at least one presentation media item used in the computer program code to a distributor identifier used in the media library.

15. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 14,

wherein the client computing device includes at least a processor and a display device, and

wherein the media library is a local media library resident on the client computing device, and wherein, to provide the media presentation on the client computing device, the processor performs the computer program code and accesses the at least one media item from the local media library using the mapping data.

16. A computer readable medium as recited in claim 15,

wherein the client computing device includes at least a processor and a display device, and

wherein the media library is a media library accessible to the client computing device, and wherein, to provide the media presentation on the client computing device, the processor performs the computer program code and accesses the at least one media item from the media library using the mapping data.

17. A method for providing a digital media bundle on a client device, said method comprising:

requesting acquisition of a digital media asset and a digital media bundle from a network-based distribution server, the digital media bundle being associated with the digital media asset, the digital media bundle including presentation configuration data to provide a presentation pertaining to the digital media asset;

receiving, at the client device, electronic delivery of the digital media asset and the digital media bundle from the network-based distribution server;

forming a bundle folder on a file system of the client device; and

storing the digital media bundle, including the presentation configuration data, in the bundle folder.

18. A method as recited in claim 17, wherein the digital media bundle is received in a compressed format, and

wherein said storing of the digital media bundle in the bundle folder comprises:

uncompressing the digital media bundle; and

storing of the uncompressed digital media bundle in the bundle folder.

19. A method as recited in claim 17, wherein the presentation configuration data includes a computer program and mapping data.

20. A method as recited in claim 19, wherein the mapping data maps vendor identifiers used in the computer program to distributor identifiers used in the local media library.

21. A method as recited in claim 20, wherein the mapping data includes the vendor identifiers, a type for one or more of the vendor identifiers, and a namespace for one or more of the vendor identifiers.

22. A method as recited in claim 19, wherein the method further comprises:

storing the digital media asset in a local media library stored on the client device.

23. A method as recited in claim 17, wherein the digital media bundle includes bundle media content, the bundle media content includes at least one media item, and

wherein the storing of the digital media bundle stores the bundle media content in the bundle folder.

24. A method as recited in claim 23, wherein the method comprises:

separately downloading additional bundle content to the client device; and

storing the additional bundle content in the bundle folder.

25. A method for supporting network-based distribution of media bundles, the method comprising:

receiving an electronic submission of a submitted media bundle package, the submitted media bundle package including at least a bundle description and a media bundle;

validating the submitted media bundle package;

determining whether the submitted media bundle package has been successfully validated; and

rendering the media bundle available for network-based distribution if the submitted media bundle package has been successfully validated,

wherein the media bundle includes at least;

associated media item information that identifies at least a media item in a media library accessible to a client computing device that is associated with the digital media bundle; and

computer program code for coordinating playback of a media presentation at the client computing device, wherein the media presentation pertains to the media item.

26. A method as recited in claim 25, wherein the method further comprises:

electronically distributing the digital media bundle to the client computing device.

27. A method as recited in claim 25, wherein the bundle description is provided in a markup language, and identifies at least (i) an associated digital media asset and (ii) an electronic file containing the media bundle.

28. A method as recited in claim 25, wherein the digital media bundle is electronically distributed to the client computing device as a compressed electronic folder.

29. A method as recited in claim 25, wherein the media bundle further includes at least:

mapping data configured to associate vendor identifiers to distributor identifiers,

wherein the mapping data is used to assist the computer program code in locating at least one presentation media item in the media library.

30. A method as recited in claim 25,

wherein the rendering of the media bundle available for network-based distribution comprises:

modifying the media bundle for distribution if the submitted media bundle package has been successfully validated; and

rendering the modified media bundle available for network-based distribution, and

wherein the method further comprises;

electronically distributing the modified digital media bundle to a client device.

31. A computer readable medium including at least computer program code stored therein for providing a digital media bundle on a client device, the computer readable medium comprising:

computer program code for requesting acquisition of a digital media asset and a digital media bundle from a network-based distribution server, the digital media bundle being associated with the digital media asset, the digital media bundle including presentation configuration data to provide a presentation pertaining to the digital media asset;

computer program code for receiving, at the client device, electronic delivery of the digital media bundle from the network-based distribution server;

computer program code for forming a bundle folder on a file system of the client device; and

computer program code for storing the digital media bundle, including the presentation configuration data, in the bundle folder.
