providing a first component comprising a first material; joining a second material to the first material by a welding technique; the second material comprising; about 15 to about 20 wt % Co; about 10 to about 19 wt % Cr; about 2.5 to about 3.4 wt % Al; less than about 0.5 wt % Ta; less than about 1.0 wt % Mo; less than about 0.06 wt % Zr; less than about 0.04 wt % B; about 1.1 to about 1.5 wt % Nb; about 3.0 to about 3.9 wt % Ti; about 3 to about 5 wt % W; about 0.03 to about 0.07 wt % C; and balance Ni;
