1. A device for affecting subcutaneous lipid-rich cells via cooling, comprising:

  • a first cooling element having a first heat exchanging surface to remove heat from the lipid-rich cells;

    a second cooling element having a second heat exchanging surface to remove heat from the lipid-rich cells; and

    a handheld assembly having a handhold configured to be grasped by a hand of an operator and a support extending from the handhold, wherein the first and second cooling elements are coupled to the support such that at least one of the first and second cooling elements is movable with respect to the support.
