Abstract

A method of classifying a client device and a device manager to allow for end users to share devices is described.

Claims

1. A method of classifying one or more client devices and one or more device managers arranged to communicate with each other in a Personal Distributed Network as at least one of a primary device, a secondary device, or a universal device to enable end user sharing of devices.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein different classifications of one or more client devices and one or more device managers determines a communication capability between the client devices or the client devices and device managers in a manner defined by one or more preset rules.

3. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the preset rules are stored in computer readable instructions, which when executed by a processor, causes the device manager and one or more client devices to communicate in a specific manner.

4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein when the classification of device manager differs from the classification of the client device, the communication and capabilities of device manager or client device is restricted to a subset of the corresponding capabilities.

5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein communication between one of the one or more device managers and one of the one or more client devices is restricted by geographic location when the respective classifications differ.

6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein communication between one of the one or more device managers and one of the one or more client devices is restricted by time of day when the respective classifications differ.

7. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein communication between one of the one or more device managers and one of the one or more client devices is restricted to certain dates of the calendar when the respective classifications differ.

8. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein communication between one of the one or more device managers and one of the one or more client devices is restricted by an external server or client device when the respective classifications differ.

9. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein one of the one or more device managers has only restricted access to a memory of the one of the one or more client device when the respective classifications differ.

10. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein one of the one or more client devices has only restricted access to a memory of the one of the one or more device managers when the respective classifications differ.

11. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein one of the one or more device managers has only restricted access to one of the one or more client device capabilities when the respective classifications differ.

12. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein one of the one or more client devices has only restricted access to one of the one or more device manager capabilities when the respective classifications differ.

13. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein one or more of the restrictions on communication between one of the one or more device managers and one of the one or more client devices are temporarily removed by a user when the respective classifications differ.

14. A method of enabling communication among more than one device manager in a single personal distributed communication network comprising more than one device manager.
