Abstract

An apparatus having a modular support frame with a top deck. The top deck has a passage therein. A tower is mounted on the top deck. A moveable plate and a track are positioned within the passage. The movable plate is slidingly attached to the track. A support rotary table is disposed within the modular support frame and suspends jointed tubulars. A coiled tubing injector head interface plate is operatively attached to the movable plate, and positioned over the first aperture of the movable plate. The first aperture is positioned over the well in a first position. A rotary table is positioned over the well in a second position. The apparatus is mounted on a transport vehicle in a transport position and moved to a well site. A lifting mechanism lifts the apparatus into an upright position. Well intervention work is conducted with coiled tubing and jointed tubulars.

Claims

1. An apparatus for performing well intervention operations on a well with a coiled tubing unit and jointed tubulars on land, the apparatus comprising:

a modular support frame with a top deck, and wherein said top deck has a passage therein, said modular support frame rotatably mounted on a transport vehicle;

a tower mounted on said top deck;

a movable plate positioned within said passage, said movable plate having a first aperture and a second aperture therein;

a track formed within the passage, and wherein said movable plate is slidingly attached to said track; and

a coiled tubing injector head interface plate operatively attached to the movable plate, and wherein said coiled tubing injector head plate is positioned over said first aperture of said movable plate, and in a first position, said coiled tubing injector head interface plate is positioned over the well.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a lifting mechanism comprising a first end and a second end, wherein said first end is rotatably attached to said transport vehicle and said second end is rotatably attached to said modular support frame, and wherein said lifting mechanism is capable of moving said modular support frame between a transport position and an upright position.

3. The apparatus of claim 2, further comprising:

one or more frame expansion mechanisms having a retracted position and an expanded position, wherein each of said one or more frame expansion mechanisms is capable of vertically displacing a portion of said modular support frame when activated by moving from said retracted position to said expanded position.

4. The apparatus of claim 3, further comprising:

one or more frame locking mechanisms having a disengaged position and an engaged position, wherein each of said one or more frame locking mechanisms is capable of locking said one or more frame expansion mechanisms in the expanded position when each of said one or more frame locking mechanisms is activated by moving from said disengaged position to said engaged position.

5. The apparatus of claim 2, further comprising:

one or more tower expansion mechanisms, wherein each of said one or more tower expansion mechanisms is capable of vertically displacing a portion of said tower when activated.

6. The apparatus of claim 5, further comprising:

one or more tower locking mechanisms having a disengaged position and an engaged position, wherein each of said one or more tower locking mechanisms is capable of locking said one or more tower expansion mechanisms in the expanded position when each of said one or more tower locking mechanisms is activated by moving from said disengaged position to said engaged position.

7. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said second aperture is positioned over the well in a second position.

8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said coiled tubing injector head interface plate is laterally movable over said first aperture.

9. An apparatus for performing well intervention work to a well with coiled tubing and jointed tubulars on land, the apparatus comprising:

a modular support frame with a top deck, said modular support frame mounted on a transport vehicle, and wherein said top deck has a passage therein;

a tower mounted on said top deck;

a movable plate positioned within said passage, said movable plate having a first aperture and a second aperture therein; and

a track formed within said passage, and wherein said movable plate is slidingly attached to said track.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising:

a lifting mechanism having a first end and a second end, said first end rotatably attached to said transport vehicle, said second end rotatably attached to said modular support frame, wherein said lifting mechanism is capable of lifting said modular support frame from a transport position to an upright position, and wherein said lifting mechanism is capable of lowering said modular support frame from said upright position to said transport position.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein said lifting mechanism comprises a hydraulic cylinder and a telescoping member, and wherein said apparatus further comprises a hydraulic supply in hydraulic communication with said hydraulic cylinder.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising:

a coiled tubing injector head interface plate operatively attached to the movable plate, and wherein said coiled tubing injector head plate is positioned over said first aperture of said movable plate and in a first position, said first aperture is positioned over said well.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein in a second position said second aperture is positioned over said well.

14. A method of performing well intervention work with a coiled tubing unit and jointed tubulars on land, the method comprising the steps of:

providing an apparatus comprising;

a modular support frame having a top deck, wherein said top deck has a passage therein;

a tower mounted on said top deck;

a movable plate positioned within said passage, said movable plate having a first aperture and a second aperture therein;

a coiled tubing injector head interface plate operatively attached to the movable plate, and wherein said coiled tubing injector head plate is positioned over said first aperture of said movable plate;

rotatably attaching said modular support frame to a transport vehicle such that said apparatus is in a transport position on said transport vehicle;

rotatably attaching a first end of a lifting mechanism to said transport vehicle, and rotatably attaching a second end of said lifting mechanism to said modular support frame;

transporting said apparatus to a well site on said transport vehicle;

positioning said transport vehicle in a work area near a well; and

lifting said apparatus from said transport position to an upright position over said well using said lifting mechanism.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising the steps of:

moving said movable plate such that said second aperture is positioned over said well;

lifting a first jointed tubular with said tower;

moving a rotary table over said well;

lowering said first jointed tubular through said second aperture and into said rotary table using said tower;

lifting a second jointed tubular with said tower;

lowering said second jointed tubular through said second aperture with said tower;

making-up said first and said second jointed tubulars with said rotary table;

lowering said first and said second jointed tubulars with said tower into said well;

suspending said first and said second jointed tubular within said well;

moving said rotary table out of line with said well;

moving said movable plate such that said coiled tubing injector head interface plate and said first aperture are positioned over said well;

rigging-up a coiled tubing injector head to said well for running a coiled tubing into said well; and

performing well intervention work with said coiled tubing and said first and said second jointed tubulars.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising the steps of:

lowering said apparatus from said upright position to said transport position using said lifting mechanism; and

transporting said apparatus on said transport vehicle away from said well site.
