1. A monitoring device comprising:
- a processor, the processor configured to;
receive an indication of a triggering event; and
transition the monitoring device into a triggered role in response to receiving the indication of the triggering event, the triggered role being one of a tag role or a node role,wherein the tag role includes configuring the processor to determine location information relating to the monitoring device, and wherein the node role includes configuring the processor to transmit a ping signal.
