1. An eavesdropping device for acquiring a measured physiological variable of an individual, said eavesdropping device comprising:

  • a receiver; and

    a communication interface, configured to be positioned along a communication link between a first sensor, arranged for measuring aortic blood pressure of the individual and to provide a signal representing measured aortic blood pressure, and a central monitoring device for monitoring the measured aortic blood pressure;

    wherein the communication interface includes a high impedance connection to the communication link configured to permit the communication interface to eavesdrop on said signal representing measured aortic blood pressure such that information representing measured aortic blood pressure is sent to the receiver while allowing the central monitoring device to receive and use said signal representing measured aortic blood pressure.
