Abstract

Methods, computer systems and computer readable media for receiving data from infusion pumps in a healthcare setting and displaying the data on a user device are provided. Centralized clinician views are provided to manage individual and multiple patient infusions. Embodiments provide near real-time graphical displays of infusion data to clinicians on separate user devices. In addition, near real-time graphical displays of patient physiologic data is displayed simultaneously to a clinician along with the infusion data.

Claims

1. One or more computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon, that, when executed perform a method for associating an order to a medical device, the method comprising:

receiving an identification of a first order for infusion fluid, wherein the first order corresponds to a patient;

receiving an identification of a first channel of a first infusion pump;

in response to receiving the identifications of the first order and the first channel of the first infusion pump, associating the first order and the first channel of the first infusion pump to one another; and

receiving a continuous data feed from the first infusion pump for the first channel.

2. The media of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a continuous data feed from the first infusion pump for the first channel from a first time to a second time, wherein the first time occurs upon the association of the first order and the first channel of the first infusion pump, and wherein the second time occurs upon a termination of the association of the first order to the first channel of the first infusion pump.

3. The media of claim 1, further comprising:

storing the association of the first order and the first channel of the first infusion pump in an electronic medical record for the patient.

4. The media of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an identification of a second order for infusion fluid, wherein the second order corresponds to the patient;

receiving an identification of a second channel of the first infusion pump;

in response to receiving the identifications of the second order and the second channel of the first infusion pump, associating the second order and the second channel of the first infusion pump to one another; and

receiving a continuous data feed from the first infusion pump for the second channel.

5. The media of claim 1, wherein the data received from the first infusion pump comprises one or more of:

rate of infusion, volume remaining to be infused and alerts.

6. The media of claim 4, further comprising:

displaying the data received from the first infusion pump to a clinician to a clinician on a computing device that is separate from the infusion pump.

7. The media of claim 1, further comprising:

determining the data received from the first infusion pump for the first channel does not match the first order for infusion fluid.

8. The media of claim 6, further comprising:

displaying alert to the clinician that the data does not match the first order for infusion fluid.

9. A single graphical user interface (GUI) stored on one or more computer-readable media and executable by a computing device, said GUI comprising:

a first display area configured for displaying infusion data received from a first infusion pump that has been associated with a first order for a patient

a second display area configured for displaying vital sign data for the patient received from medical device that has been associated with the patient; and

a third display area configured for displaying information for the patient received from the electronic medical record for the patient,

wherein the first, second and third display areas are displayed simultaneously on a computing device of a clinician that is separate from the first infusion pump and the medical device.

10. The media of claim 9, further comprising:

a fourth display area for displaying details for the first order for the patient, wherein the first order is a request for infusion fluids to be administered for the patient.

11. The media of claim 9, wherein the infusion data received from the first infusion pump comprises one or more of rate of infusion, volume remaining to be infused and alerts.

12. The media of claim 9, wherein the infusion data is received from the infusion pump without user intervention.

13. The media of claim 9, wherein the infusion data received from the first infusion pump is displayed on a graph.

14. The media of claim 9, wherein the infusion data received is for a first channel of the first infusion pump.

15. The media of claim 10, further comprising:

a fifth display area for displaying infusion data received for a second channel of the first infusion pump

17. The media of claim 15, wherein the infusion data is received from the first and second infusion pumps without user intervention.

18. The media of claim 15, wherein the first infusion pump is associated with a first order for the first patient.

19. The media of claim 17, wherein the second infusion pump is associated with a second order for the second patient.

20. The media of claim 18, further comprising:

a fourth display area for displaying details for the first order for the first patient, wherein the first order is a request for infusion fluids to be administered for the patient.

21. The media of claim 19, further comprising:

a fifth display area for displaying details for the second order for the second patient, wherein the second order is a request for infusion fluids to be administered for the patient.

16. A graphical user interface (GUI) stored on one or more computer-readable media and executable by a computing device, said GUI comprising:

a first display area configured for displaying infusion data received from a first infusion pump for a first patient; and

a second display area configured for displaying infusion data received from a second infusion pump for a second patient,

wherein the infusion data for the first and second infusion pump comprises at least one of current rate of infusion, volume remaining to be infused and alerts, and

wherein the first and second display areas are displayed simultaneously on a computing device of a clinician that is separate from the first infusion pump and second infusion pumps.
