1. A power-saving solar power supply system used in an automatic vending machine having a recognition system for verifying a bill, coin, credit card or license inserted by a user into said automatic vending machine, comprising:
- a power supply module, said power supply module comprising a solar cell set and a rechargeable battery set, said solar cell set comprising a plurality of solar cells mounted in said automatic vending machine for receiving sunlight and converting sunlight into electricity; and
a power management unit, said power management unit comprising a microprocessor, a voltage detection device controllable by said microprocessor to detect the voltage level of said solar cell set and said rechargeable battery set, a power switching module controllable by said microprocessor to alternatively switch between said solar cell set and said rechargeable battery set subject to the detection result of said voltage detection device, an idle power supply module electrically connected to said recognition system of said automatic vending machine and controllable by said microprocessor through said power switching module to provide battery power supply from one of said solar cell set and said rechargeable battery set to said recognition system, a sleep/wakeup switch controllable by said microprocessor to switch said idle power supply module between a sleep mode and a wakeup mode, and a charging control module controllable by said microprocessor to charge said rechargeable battery set with said solar cell set.

Abstract
A power-saving solar power supply system used in an automatic vending machine is disclosed to include a power supply module having a solar cell set and a rechargeable battery set, and a power management unit, which comprises a microprocessor, a voltage detection device that detects the voltage level of the solar cell set and the rechargeable battery set, an idle power supply module and a power switching module controllable by the microprocessor to switch between the solar cell set and the rechargeable battery set so that the idle power supply module provides battery power supply from the solar cell set or the rechargeable battery set to the recognition system of the automatic vending machine when the recognition system is in the idle mode, thereby saving power consumption.
