Abstract

A game system and method plays an electronic game and simulates the outcome as a keno game. The game system allows a player to place a wager, plays the electronic game, and establishes an outcome of the electronic game. The outcome of the electronic game includes a payout according to a first pay table if a set of predetermined conditions has been achieved. The outcome of the game is simulated as a keno game. The outcome of the keno game is equivalent to the outcome of the electronic game.

57. A game system for playing an electronic game, comprising:

a player game device for allowing a player to place a wager, the player game device including a user interface; and

a game controller coupled to the player game device for playing the electronic game and establishing an outcome of the electronic game, the outcome of the electronic game including a payout according to a main pay table if a set of predetermined winning conditions has been achieved, the game controller further for simulating a keno game on the player device by allowing the player to make decisions during the simulation using the user interface including choosing how many numbers are to be played in the simulated keno game and selecting the chosen number of numbers, the outcome of the keno game being responsive to the decisions made by the player and equivalent to the outcome of the electronic game, wherein if the outcome of the electronic game is a loss to the player, then the game controller selects keno outcome numbers such that the number of matches between the player selected numbers and the keno outcome numbers are less than a predetermined number of matches and if the outcome of the electronic game is a win to the player, then the game controller selects keno outcome numbers such that the number of matches between the player selected numbers and the keno outcome numbers are greater than or equal to the predetermined number of matches.

58. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, wherein the electronic game is an electronic bingo game.

59. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, wherein the number of matches between the player selected numbers and the keno outcome numbers is determined by the game controller as a function of the outcome of the electronic game and a keno simulation pay table.

60. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, wherein the player may select the chosen number of numbers by using a quick pick function.

61. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, wherein the game system include a plurality of player game devices, the game controller being implemented in a server, each player game device being connected to the server.

62. A game system, as set forth in claim 61, the plurality of player game devices allowing a plurality of players to compete with and against each other in the electronic game.

63. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, the player game device including a bill validator for accepting currency and responsively providing a number of credits which may be played by the player.

64. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, the player game device having a user interface device for allowing interaction between the player game device and game controller and the player.

65. A game system, as set forth in claim 64, the user interface device including a touch-screen display.

66. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, the player game device including a ticket printer for printing a redeemable ticket for any remaining credits on the player game device.

67. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, the player game device including a bill validator, a user interface device, a ticket printer all coupled to and controller by a device controller.

68. A game system, as set forth in claim 57, wherein the keno simulation pay table of the simulated keno game has a plurality of possible payouts, each payout associated with a possible outcome of the electronic game.

69. A computer based method for playing an electronic game, including the steps of:

allowing a player to place a wager;

playing the electronic game and establishing an outcome of the electronic game, the outcome of the electronic game including a payout according to a main pay table if a predetermined set of conditions has been achieved; and

,

simulating an electronic keno game by allowing the player to make decisions during the simulation, the decisions including selecting how many numbers are to be played in the simulated keno game and selecting the chosen number of numbers, wherein the outcome of the simulated keno game is responsive to the decisions made by the player, by selecting keno outcome numbers such that the number of matches between the player selected numbers and the keno outcome numbers are less than a predetermined number of matches if the outcome of the electronic game is a loss to the player, and by selecting keno outcome numbers such that the number of matches between the player selected numbers and the keno outcome numbers are greater than or equal to the predetermined number of matches if the outcome of the electronic game is a win to the player.

70. A method, as set forth in claim 69, wherein the electronic game is an electronic bingo game.

71. A method, as set forth in claim 69, wherein the number of matches between the player selected numbers and the keno outcome numbers is determined as a function of the outcome of the electronic game and a keno simulation pay table.

72. A method, as set forth in claim 71, wherein the simulation pay table of the simulated keno game is established as a function of the number of numbers chosen by the player.

73. A method, as set forth in claim 69, wherein the player may select the chosen number of numbers by using a quick pick function.

74. A method, as set forth in claim 69, including the step of allowing a plurality of players to compete with and against each other in the electronic game.

75. A method, as set forth in claim 69, wherein a first payout of the simulation pay table is a loss of the player and corresponds to zero matches between the numbers chosen by the player and the keno outcome numbers.
