READING AND INFORMATION ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD

1. A method of a user accessing information relevant to an electronic text being read by activating a button on an electronic text, the electronic text supported on:
- a reading device comprising a viewer screen, a processor, and a memory, the memory storing text the electronic text and a reference system containing multiple, accessible data entries on words or terms within the electronic text;
the reading device also having user input to activate the button at various positions within the electronic text;
the memory identifying a position of the words or terms within the electronic text and different buttons for the same term providing a different one of said multiple, accessible data entries from at least two of said buttons depending upon a location of the button within the electronic text; and
the reading device providing an image on the viewer screen that contains the different one of said multiple, accessible data entries provided according to the location of the button within the electronic text.

Abstract
A written document (hereinafter referred to as a “work,” on electronic format which includes, stories, novels, education texts, biographies, compilations, collections, anthologies, tracts, and any other traditional format for relatively extensive texts) provides access to reference, bibliography and/or definition material through an electronic software capability associated with the work. Depending upon reader access information or characteristics (e.g., age, grade, proficiency, or position within the work or any other identifiable reader characteristic or access limitation), any request for reference material, definitions, explanations, translations, or other material provided in the associated software capability is automatically limited by system acknowledgement of the reader access information or characteristics. 13. A method of providing an electronic text with a reference system containing multiple, accessible data entries on words or terms within the electronic text, the method comprising:

downloading the electronic text to a memory associated with a display screen; providing to the memory a reference system containing multiple, accessible data entries on words or terms within the electronic text; providing buttons to the electronic text on key word or key terms in the electronic text that cause a processor accessing the memory having the reference system containing multiple, accessible data entries on words or terms within the electronic text to display on the display screen only a single accessible data entry on the key word or key term button according to a relative location of the key word or the key term within the electronic text. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16)

17. An electronic text display system comprising:

a display screen; a processor; and a memory; the memory having a display readable text embedded therein; the memory having multiple, accessible data entries on key words or key terms within the electronic text; and the processor configured to; a) cause the display screen to display a readable text; b) cause the readable text to have buttons on key words or key terms in the readable text; c) respond to activation of a button at a location within the electronic text by displaying an accessible data entry dedicated to both the key word or key term and the location of the key word or key term within the electronic text. - View Dependent Claims (18)
