Abstract

The present invention provides a semiconductor device which can prevent a current from flowing into a display element at a signal writing operation, without increasing power consumption and without changing a potential of a power supply for supplying a current to a load in each row. When a predetermined current is supplied to a transistor to set a gate-source voltage of the transistor, a potential of a gate terminal of the transistor is adjusted so as to prevent a current from flowing into a load which is connected to a source terminal of the transistor. Thus, a potential of a wire connected to the gate terminal of the transistor is made different from that of a wire connected to a drain terminal of the transistor. At that time, an operation of a transistor is shifted so as to allow a large amount of current to flow, and influences by intersection capacitance parasitic to a wire or the like or wire resistance are hardly caused, and a set operation is conducted quickly.

Claims

1. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

a thin film transistor provided over the substrate and in a pixel; and

a driver circuit provided in an IC chip provided over the substrate,

wherein the thin film transistor comprises an oxide semiconductor.

2. The display device according to claim 1 wherein the oxide semiconductor comprises InGaZnO.

3. The display device according to claim 1 wherein the driver circuit comprises a signal line driver circuit.

4. The display device according to claim 1 wherein the driver circuit comprises a scan line driver circuit.

5. The display device according to claim 1 wherein the display device is incorporated into one selected from the group consisting of a television receiver, a mobile phone, a camera, a computer, a portable image reproducing device, a goggle-type display, and a game machine.

6. A display device comprising:

a glass substrate;

a thin film transistor provided over the glass substrate and in a pixel; and

a driver circuit provided over a single crystal substrate of an IC Chip provided over the glass substrate,

wherein the thin film transistor comprises an oxide semiconductor.

7. The display device according to claim 6 wherein the IC chip is provided over the glass substrate by chip on glass.

8. The display device according to claim 6 wherein the oxide semiconductor comprises InGaZnO.

9. The display device according to claim 6 wherein the driver circuit comprises a signal line driver circuit.

10. The display device according to claim 6 wherein the driver circuit comprises a scan line driver circuit.

11. The display device according to claim 6 wherein the display device is incorporated into one selected from the group consisting of a television receiver, a mobile phone, a camera, a computer, a portable image reproducing device, a goggle-type display, and a game machine.

12. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

a thin film transistor provided over the substrate and in a pixel; and

a driver circuit for driving the pixel, the driver circuit provided in an IC chip provided over the substrate,

wherein the thin film transistor comprises an oxide semiconductor.

13. The display device according to claim 12 wherein the oxide semiconductor comprises InGaZnO.

14. The display device according to claim 12 wherein the driver circuit comprises a signal line driver circuit.

15. The display device according to claim 12 wherein the driver circuit comprises a scan line driver circuit.

16. The display device according to claim 12 wherein the display device is incorporated into one selected from the group consisting of a television receiver, a mobile phone, a camera, a computer, a portable image reproducing device, a goggle-type display, and a game machine.

17. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

a switch comprising a thin film transistor, the thin film transistor provided over the substrate and in a pixel; and

a driver circuit provided in an IC chip provided over the substrate,

wherein the thin film transistor comprises an oxide semiconductor.

18. The display device according to claim 17 wherein the oxide semiconductor comprises InGaZnO.

19. The display device according to claim 17 wherein the driver circuit comprises a signal line driver circuit.

20. The display device according to claim 17 wherein the driver circuit comprises a scan line driver circuit.

21. The display device according to claim 17 wherein the display device is incorporated into one selected from the group consisting of a television receiver, a mobile phone, a camera, a computer, a portable image reproducing device, a goggle-type display, and a game machine.
