Abstract

A method and system to receive a query, from over a network, and identify a first plurality of data items based on the query. The first plurality of data items including a second plurality of data items. Next, the system computes a quantity of the first plurality of data items by counting the first plurality of data items and compares the quantity of the first plurality of data items with a determined threshold to identify the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold. Next, the system presents a user interface, over the network, to the computer system, the user interface includes the second plurality of data items, and further includes at least one user interface element responsive to the identification of the quantity of the first plurality of data items as greater than the determined threshold. The at least one user interface element is selectable to browse the first plurality of data items.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving a query, from over a network, from a computer system;

identifying a first plurality of data items based on the query, the first plurality of data items including a second plurality of data items;

computing a quantity of the first plurality of data items by counting the first plurality of data items;

comparing the quantity of the first plurality of data items with a determined threshold to identify the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold; and

presenting a user interface, over the network, to the computer system, the user interface including the second plurality of data items and further including at least one user interface element responsive to the identifying the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold, the at least one user interface element being selectable to browse the first plurality of data items.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the determined threshold is a configurable value.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one user interface element includes a first browsing set to display at least a portion of the first plurality of data items.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the first browsing set includes a browsing concept that is associated with a plurality of browsing values.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively selectable to display different portions of the first plurality of data items.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively associated with a plurality of counts that present a number of data items associated with the browsing value.

7. The method of claim 3, wherein the first browsing set is identified based on the query.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the user interface further includes a button that is selectable to display a second browsing set.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the data items are listings on a network-based marketplace.

10. A system comprising:

at least one processor;

a search application that includes instructions that are executable by the at least one processor to receive a query, from over a network, from a computer system and to identify a first plurality of data items based on the query, the first plurality of data items includes a second plurality of data items; and

a determining module that includes instructions that are executable by the at least one processor to count the first plurality of data items to compute a quantity of the first plurality of data items and to compare the quantity of the first plurality of data items with a determined threshold to identify the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold, the search application to present a user interface, over the network, to the computer system, the user interface includes the second plurality of data items and further includes at least one user interface element responsive to the identification of the quantity of the first plurality of data items as greater than the determined threshold, the at least one user interface element selectable to browse the first plurality of data items.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the determined threshold is a configurable value.

12. The system of claim 10, wherein the at least one user interface element includes a first browsing set to display at least a portion of the first plurality of data items.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the first browsing set includes a browsing concept that is associated with a plurality of browsing values.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively selectable to display different portions of the first plurality of data items.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the plurality of browsing values are respectively associated with a plurality of counts that respectively present a number of data items associated with the respective browsing value.

16. The system of claim 12, wherein the first browsing set is identified based on the query.

17. The system of claim 10, wherein the user interface further includes a button that is selectable to display a second browsing set.

18. The system of claim 10, wherein the data items are listings on a network-based marketplace.

19. A system comprising:

at least one processor;

a first means that includes instructions that are executable by the at least one processor for receiving a query, from over a network, from a computer system and to identify a first plurality of data items based on the query, the first plurality of data items includes a second plurality of data items; and

a determining module that includes instructions that are executable by the at least one processor to count the first plurality of data items to compute a quantity of the first plurality of data items and to compare the quantity of the first plurality of data items with a determined threshold to identify the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold, the first means further for communicating a user interface, over the network, to the computer system, the user interface includes the second plurality of data items and further includes at least one user interface element responsive to the identification of the quantity of the first plurality of data items as greater than the determined threshold, the at least one user interface element selectable to browse the first plurality of data items.

20. A machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to:

receive a query, from over a network, from a computer system;

identify a first plurality of data items based on the query, the first plurality of data items including a second plurality of data items;

compute a quantity of the first plurality of data items by counting the first plurality of data items;

compare the quantity of the first plurality of data items with a determined threshold to identify the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold; and

present a user interface, over the network, to the computer system, the user interface including the second plurality of data items further including at least one user interface element responsive to the identifying the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold, the at least one user interface element being selectable to browse the first plurality of data items.
