Abstract

An automated method is provided for obtaining selected content for a web page that allows for syndication of digital assets. The selected content itself is not initially part of the web page. The web page includes script associated with the selected content. Upon receiving a web page that includes script associated with the selected content, the script is interpreted. A request is then formatted for obtaining the selected content from a remote site. The request includes a uniform resource identifier (URI) of the web page and a unique identifier of the selected content. The script includes a subscriber identifier and a content identifier, which, together, create the unique identifier of the selected content.

13. A method of generating and providing script associated with a digital asset, the method comprising:

(a) generating script that includes code to request the content of the digital asset from a remote site when the code is executed by a browser, the code including;

(i) a uniform resource identifier (URI) of a web page for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset, and

(ii) a unique identifier of the content of the digital asset,

wherein the script includes a subscriber identifier and a content identifier, which, together, create the unique identifier of the content; and

(b) providing the generated script for insertion into, and to become part of, a fully rendered web page, wherein the script allows for receipt of the content of the digital asset to an authorized web page.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the script is a scripting language.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein the scripting language is JavaScript.

16. The method of claim 13 wherein the content is an executable file.

17. A computer program product for generating and providing script associated with a digital asset, the computer program product comprising non-transitory computer storage media encoded with computer-executable instructions for performing a method comprising:

(a) generating script that includes code to request the content of the digital asset from a remote site when the code is executed by a browser, the code including;

(i) a uniform resource identifier (URI) of a web page for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset, and

(ii) a unique identifier of the content of the digital asset,

wherein the script includes a subscriber identifier and a content identifier, which, together, create the unique identifier of the content; and

(b) providing the generated script for insertion into, and to become part of, a fully rendered web page, wherein the script allows for receipt of the content of the digital asset to an authorized web page.

18. The computer program product of claim 17 wherein the script is a scripting language.

19. The computer program product claim 18 wherein the scripting language is JavaScript.

20. The computer program product of claim 17 wherein the content is an executable file.

21. A method of generating and providing script associated with a digital asset, the method comprising:

(a) generating script that includes code to request the content of the digital asset from a remote site when the code is executed by a browser, the code including;

(i) a resource identifier of a web page, and

(ii) a unique identifier of the content of the digital asset,

wherein the script includes a subscriber identifier and a content identifier, which, together, create the unique identifier of the content; and

(b) providing the generated script for insertion into, and to become part of, a fully rendered web page, wherein the script allows for receipt of the content of the digital asset to a web page.

22. The method of claim 21 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is a uniform resource identifier.

23. The method of claim 21 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset.

24. The method of claim 21 wherein the script is a scripting language.

25. The method of claim 22 wherein the scripting language is JavaScript.

26. The method of claim 21 wherein the content is an executable file.

27. A computer program product for generating and providing script associated with a digital asset, the computer program product comprising non-transitory computer storage media encoded with computer-executable instructions for performing a method comprising:

(a) generating script that includes code to request the content of the digital asset from a remote site when the code is executed by a browser, the code including;

(i) a resource identifier of a web page, and

(ii) a unique identifier of the content of the digital asset,

wherein the script includes a subscriber identifier and a content identifier, which, together, create the unique identifier of the content; and

(b) providing the generated script for insertion into, and to become part of, a fully rendered web page, wherein the script allows for receipt of the content of the digital asset to a web page.

28. The computer program product of claim 27 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is a uniform resource identifier.

29. The computer program product of claim 27 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset.

30. The computer program product of claim 27 wherein the script is a scripting language.

31. The computer program product claim 30 wherein the scripting language is JavaScript.

32. The computer program product of claim 27 wherein the content is an executable file.

33. A method for delivering a digital asset to a web page, the method comprising:

(a) generating script that includes code to request the content of a digital asset from a remote site when the code is executed by a browser, the code including;

(i) a resource identifier of a web page, and

(ii) a unique identifier of the content of the digital asset,

wherein the script includes a subscriber identifier and a content identifier, which, together, create the unique identifier of the content;

(b) providing the generated script for insertion into, and to become part of, a fully rendered web page, wherein the script allows for receipt of the content of the digital asset to a web page; and

(c) the remote site receiving and processing the request for the content of the digital asset and delivering the content of the digital asset to the web page.

34. The method of claim 33 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is a uniform resource identifier.

35. The method of claim 33 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset.

36. The method of claim 33 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is a uniform resource identifier and is for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset.

37. The method of claim 33 wherein the script is a scripting language.

38. The method of claim 37 wherein the scripting language is JavaScript.

39. The method of claim 33 wherein the content is an executable file.

40. A computer program product for delivering a digital asset to a web page, the computer program product comprising non-transitory computer storage media encoded with computer-executable instructions for performing a method comprising:

(a) generating script that includes code to request the content of a digital asset from a remote site when the code is executed by a browser, the code including;

(i) a resource identifier of a web page, and

(ii) a unique identifier of the content of the digital asset,

wherein the script includes a subscriber identifier and a content identifier, which, together, create the unique identifier of the content;

(b) providing the generated script for insertion into, and to become part of, a fully rendered web page, wherein the script allows for receipt of the content of the digital asset to a web page; and

(c) the remote site receiving and processing the request for the content of the digital asset and delivering the content of the digital asset to the web page.

41. The computer program product of claim 40 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is a uniform resource identifier.

42. The computer program product of claim 40 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset.

43. The computer program product of claim 40 wherein the resource identifier of the web page is a uniform resource identifier and is for use by the remote site in authenticating whether the web page is authorized to receive the content of the digital asset.
