HANDHELD VISION BASED ABSOLUTE POINTING SYSTEM
First Claim
1. A method, comprising:
- detecting one or more images of respective one or more spatially fixed markers adapted for placing in fixed locations within view of the pixelated sensor, said markers emitting radiation having a predetermined frequency band, said images appearing on a pixelated sensor within a handheld device;
filtering at said handheld device radiation so as to pass the radiation in the predetermined frequency band and to substantially exclude other radiation;
generating image data for each of the one or more images;
processing the image data in the handheld device to provide processed image data of the images appearing on the pixelated sensor; and
sending from said handheld device the processed image data.

Abstract
A method is described that involves identifying one or more images of respective one or more fixed markers. Each marker is positioned on or proximate to a display. The images appear on a pixilated sensor within a handheld device. The method also involves determining a location on, or proximate to, the display where the handheld device was pointed during the identifying. The method also involves sending from the handheld device information derived from the identifying of the one or more images of respective one or more fixed markers. The method also involves triggering action taken by electronic equipment circuitry in response to the handheld device'"'"'s sending of a signal to indicate the action is desired.
