Abstract

A computer readable medium having a computer program product stored thereon, the computer program product including instructions for ordering a computer to perform the following steps. The steps include a first receiving step of receiving a facsimile command from a client device configured to executes a facsimile application program, a first determining step of determining whether or not to allow communication with a facsimile device based on a predetermined condition when receiving the facsimile command at the first receiving step, and a transferring step of transferring the facsimile command received at the first receiving step to the facsimile device when the communication is allowed at the first determining step.

Claims

1. A computer readable medium having a computer program product stored thereon, the computer program product including instructions for ordering a computer to perform the following steps of:

a first receiving step of receiving a facsimile command from a client device configured to execute a facsimile application program;

a first determining step of determining whether or not to allow communication with a facsimile device based on a predetermined condition when receiving the facsimile command at the first receiving step; and

a transferring step of transferring the facsimile command received at the first receiving step to the facsimile device when the communication is allowed at the first determining step.

2. The computer readable medium according to claim 1, the computer further performing:

an obtaining step, when receiving the facsimile command at the first receiving step, the obtaining step obtaining transmission source information from the client device that transmitted the facsimile command,

wherein at the first determining step, the transmission source information obtained at the obtaining step is compared to transmission source information registered in a storing section of the computer, the registered transmission source information representing transmission sources that are allowed to communicate with the facsimile device, to determine whether the transmission source information obtained at the obtaining step is registered in the storing section, and to determine to allow the communication with the facsimile device when determining that the obtained transmission source information is registered in the storing section.

3. The computer readable medium according to claim 2, the computer further performing:

a registering step of registering the transmission source information in the storing section.

4. The computer readable medium according to claim 2,

wherein the client device executes an operating system and executes the facsimile application program under control of the operating system, and

wherein at the obtaining step, information concerning the facsimile application program is obtained as the transmission source information from the operating system.

5. The computer readable medium according to claim 4, wherein the transmission source information includes user identification information of a user who activates the facsimile application program.

6. The computer readable medium according to claim 4, wherein the transmission source information includes a program name of the facsimile application program.

7. The computer readable medium according to claim 1, wherein at the first determining step, the determination whether communication with the facsimile device is allowed is made for a predetermined facsimile command.

8. The computer readable medium according to claim 1, the computer further performing:

a second receiving step of receiving informing of incoming from the facsimile device; and

a second determining step, when receiving the informing of incoming at the second receiving step, the second determining step determining whether to transfer the informing of incoming to the client device based on a predetermined condition,

wherein when it is determined that the informing of incoming is transferred at the second determining step, the informing of incoming is transferred to the client device at the transferring step.

9. The computer readable medium according to claim 8, wherein if there are a plurality of client devices, it is determined to which one of the client devices the informing of incoming is transferred based on a predetermined priority order at the transferring step.

10. A computer system comprising:

a facsimile device;

a client device configured to executes a facsimile application program; and

a computer configured to relay communication between the client device and the facsimile device,

wherein the computer includes;

a receiving section configured to receive a facsimile command from the client device;

a first determining section configured to determine whether communication with the facsimile device is allowed based on a predetermined condition when the receiving section receiving the facsimile command; and

a transferring section configured to transfer the facsimile command received by the first receiving section to the facsimile device when the first determining section determines to allow the communication with the facsimile device.

11. A computer executable method for controlling communication between a computer and a facsimile device, the method comprising steps of:

a first receiving step of receiving a facsimile command from a client device configured to execute a facsimile application program;

a first determining step of determining whether or not to allow communication with a facsimile device based on a predetermined condition when receiving the facsimile command at the first receiving step; and

a transferring step of transferring the facsimile command received at the first receiving step to the facsimile device when the communication is allowed at the first determining step.

12. The computer executable method according to claim 11, further comprising:

an obtaining step, when receiving a facsimile command at the first receiving step, the obtaining step obtaining transmission source information from a client device that transmitted the facsimile command,

wherein at the first determining step, the transmission source information obtained at the obtaining step is compared to transmission source information registered in a storing section of the computer, the registered transmission source information representing transmission sources that are allowed to communicate with the facsimile device, to determine whether the transmission source information obtained at the obtaining step is registered in the storing section, and to determine to allow the communication with the facsimile device when determining that the obtained transmission source information is registered in the storing section.

13. The computer executable method according to claim 12, further comprising:

a registering step of registering the transmission source information in the storing section.

14. The computer executable method according to claim 12,

wherein the client device executes an operating system and executes a facsimile application program under control of the operating system, and

wherein at the obtaining step, information concerning the facsimile application program is obtained as the transmission source information from the operating system.

15. The computer executable method according to claim 14, wherein the transmission source information includes user identification information of a user who activates the facsimile application program.

16. The computer executable method according to claim 14, wherein the transmission source information includes a program name of the facsimile application program.

17. The computer executable method according to claim 11, wherein at the first determining step, the determination whether communication with the facsimile device is allowed is made for a predetermined facsimile command.

18. The computer executable method according to claim 11, further comprising:

a second receiving step of receiving informing of incoming from the facsimile device; and

a second determining step, when receiving the informing of incoming at the second receiving step, the second determining step determining whether to transfer the informing of incoming to the client device based on a predetermined condition,

wherein when it is determined that the informing of incoming is transferred at the second determining step, the informing of incoming is transferred to the client device at the transferring step.

19. The computer executable method according to claim 18, wherein if there are a plurality of client devices, it is determined to which one of the client devices the informing of incoming is transferred based on a predetermined priority order at the transferring step.
