Abstract

A method of transmitting a warning message in a multiple carrier system performed by a network is provided. The method includes transmitting configuration information on aggregated downlink carriers for a user equipment (UE), transmitting, to the UE, carrier information on a first downlink carrier which is used to transmit a warning message, transmitting, to the UE, a notification which informs the UE of the upcoming transmission of the warning message via a second downlink carrier, and transmitting, to the UE, the warning message via the first downlink carrier.

Claims

1. A method of transmitting a warning message in a multiple carrier system performed by a network, the method comprising:

transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), carrier information on a first downlink carrier which is used to transmit a warning message;

transmitting, to the UE, a notification which informs the UE of the upcoming transmission of the warning message on a second downlink carrier; and

transmitting, to the UE, the warning message on the first downlink carrier,

wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are aggregated.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are different.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are the same.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the warning message is broadcasted in public.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the carrier information is included in system information of the first downlink carrier.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the notification is transmitted by at least one of paging, system information, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with a public warning system specific radio network temporary identifier (PWS specific RNTI), a medium access control (MAC) message and a radio resource control (RRC) message.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the notification includes a value tag, the value tag changes whenever a different warning message is transmitted.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the UE stores a message identity (ID) and a serial number (SN) of the warning message and the UE discards the stored message ID and the stored SN if a cell changes.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the UE stores a message ID and a SN of the warning message and the UE does not discard the stored message ID and the stored SN if the UE moves in between aggregated downlink carriers.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the first downlink carrier is not used to transmit the warning message.

11. A method of receiving a warning message in a multiple carrier system performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

receiving, from a network, carrier information on a first downlink carrier which is used to receive a warning message;

receiving, from the network, a notification which informs the UE of the upcoming transmission of the warning message via a second downlink carrier; and

receiving, from the network, the warning message via the first downlink carrier,

wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are aggregated.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are different.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are the same.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein the warning message is broadcasted in public.

15. The method of claim 11, wherein the carrier information is included in system information of the first downlink carrier.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein the notification is received by at least one of paging, system information, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with a public warning system specific radio network temporary identifier (PWS specific RNTI), a medium access control (MAC) message and a radio resource control (RRC) message.

17. The method of claim 11, wherein the notification includes a value tag, the value tag changes whenever a different warning message is transmitted.

18. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

storing a message identity (ID) and a serial number (SN) of the warning message, wherein the stored message ID and the SN are discarded if a cell changes.

19. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

storing a message ID and a SN of the warning message, wherein the stored message ID and the SN are not discarded if the UE moves in between aggregated downlink carriers.

20. The method of claim 11, wherein the first downlink carrier is not used to receive the warning message.
