Abstract

Systems and techniques are disclosed for determining an intervention for a patient based at least in part on a likelihood of the patient to adhere to a prescription. In some implementations, a patient profile for a patient is obtained from one or more computer-readable storage devices in a patient population, the patient profile including multiple patient attributes; an adherence score is obtained for the patient profile, the adherence score for predicting patient adherence based on one or more of the multiple patient attributes wherein the adherence score indicates a likelihood of adherence of the patient to a prescribed treatment; and the adherence score obtained for the patient profile is modified into a modified score for intervention based on a set of weights for weighting the patient attributes.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for modifying a patient adherence score, comprising:

obtaining from one or more computer-readable storage devices a patient profile for a patient in a patient population, the patient profile including multiple patient attributes;

obtaining an adherence score for the patient profile for predicting patient adherence based on one or more of the multiple patient attributes wherein the adherence score indicates a likelihood of adherence of the patient to a prescribed treatment; and

modifying the adherence score obtained for the patient profile into a modified score for intervention based on a set of weights for weighting the patient attributes in the patient profile.

2. The method of claim 1, comprising determining, based on the modified score, a type of intervention for the patient to increase a likelihood of the patient to adhere to a prescription.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein determining the type of the intervention comprises determining the type of intervention based on a cost of the intervention.

4. The method of claim 1, comprising determining, based on the modified score, a timing of an intervention for the patient to increase a likelihood of the patient to adhere to a prescription.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the timing comprises a frequency for performing the intervention.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the timing of the intervention is a function of a dosing schedule or a refill schedule for a prescription for the patient.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

obtaining adherences scores for each of additional patients in the patient population;

modifying each of the adherence scores for each of the additional patients in the patient population into modified scores for intervention based on the set of weights; and

stratifying the patients in the patient population based on the modified adherence scores for each of the patients in the population.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising combining a portion of the stratified population into a group to receive a type of intervention based on the modified adherence scores.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the group comprises a group of patients in the population whose behavior is most likely to change as a result of the type of intervention.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the combining comprises combining the portion of the stratified population into the group to receive the intervention based at least in part on a cost of implementing the intervention.

11. The method of claim 8:

wherein the patient profile for the patient comprises a first patient profile for a first patient, the modified adherence score comprises a first modified adherence score, and the intervention comprises an intervention of a first type; and

further comprising;

modifying the adherence scores for the patient population with a second set of weights for a second type of intervention to obtain a second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population;

stratifying the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population; and

based on the stratifying the patients in the patient population, combining a portion of the patients in the patient population into a group to receive the second type of intervention.

12. The method of claim 8:

wherein the set of weights comprise a first set of weights, and further comprising;

modifying the adherence scores for the patient population with a second set of weights for a timing of intervention to obtain a second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population;

stratifying at least a portion of the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence scores; and

determining a timing for at least the portion of the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence scores.

13. A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions, which, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to perform operations comprising:

obtaining from one or more computer-readable storage devices a patient profile for a patient in a patient population, the patient profile including multiple patient attributes;

obtaining an adherence score for the patient profile for predicting patient adherence based on one or more of the multiple patient attributes wherein the adherence score indicates a likelihood of adherence of the patient to a prescribed treatment; and

modifying the adherence score obtained for the patient profile into a modified score for intervention based on a set of weights for weighting the patient attributes in the patient profile.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 13, the operations further comprising determining, based on the modified score, a type of intervention for the patient to increase a likelihood of the patient to adhere to a prescription.

15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein determining the type of the intervention comprises determining the type of intervention based on a cost of the intervention.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 13, the operations further comprising determining, based on the modified score, a timing of an intervention for the patient to increase a likelihood of the patient to adhere to a prescription.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 13, the operations further comprising:

obtaining adherences scores for each of additional patients in the patient population;

modifying each of the adherence scores for each of the additional patients in the patient population into modified scores for intervention based on the set of weights; and

stratifying the patients in the patient population based on the modified adherence scores for each of the patients in the population.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 17, the operations further comprising combining a portion of the stratified population into a group to receive a type of intervention based on the modified adherence scores.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein the combining comprises combining the portion of the stratified population into the group to receive the intervention based at least in part on a cost of implementing the intervention.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 18,

wherein the patient profile for the patient comprises a first patient profile for a first patient, the modified adherence score comprises a first modified adherence score, and the intervention comprises an intervention of a first type;

and

the operations further comprising;

modifying the adherence scores for the patient population based on a second set of weights for a second type of intervention to obtain a second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population;

stratifying the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population; and

based on the stratifying the patients in the patient population, combining a portion of the patients in the patient into a group to receive the second type of intervention.

21. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 18,

wherein the set of weights comprise a first set of weights, and the operations further comprising:

modifying the adherence scores for the patient population based on a second set of weights for a timing of intervention to obtain a second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population;

stratifying at least a portion of the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence scores; and

determining a timing for at least the portion of the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence scores.

22. A system comprising:

one or more computer-readable storage devices;

a processor in communication with the one or more computer-readable storage devices programmed to perform the operations comprising;

obtaining from the one or more computer-readable storage devices a first patient profile for a first patient in a patient population, the first patient profile including multiple patient attributes;

obtaining an adherence score for the first patient profile for predicting patient adherence based on one or more of the multiple patient attributes wherein the adherence score indicates a likelihood of adherence of the first patient to a prescribed treatment, and

modifying the adherence score obtained for the first patient profile into a modified score for intervention based on a set of weights for weighting the patient attributes for intervention; and

an implementation module configured to implement an intervention based on the first modified score for intervention.

23. The system of claim 22, the operations further comprising determining, based on the modified score, a type of intervention for the patient to increase a likelihood of the patient to adhere to a prescription.

24. The system of claim 23, wherein determining the type of the intervention comprises determining the type of intervention based on a cost of the intervention.

25. The system of claim 22, the operations further comprising determining, based on the modified score, a timing of an intervention for the patient to increase a likelihood of the patient to adhere to a prescription.

26. The system of claim 22, the operations further comprising:

obtaining adherences scores for each of additional patients in the patient population;

modifying each of the adherence scores for each of the additional patients in the patient population into modified scores for intervention based on the set of weights;

stratifying the patients in the patient population based on the modified adherence scores for each of the patients in the population; and

combining a portion of the stratified population into a group to receive a type of intervention based on the modified adherence scores.

27. The system of claim 26, wherein the combining comprises combining the portion of the stratified population into the group to receive the intervention based at least in part on a cost of implementing the intervention.

28. The system of claim 26, wherein the patient profile for the patient comprises a first patient profile for a first patient, the modified adherence score comprises a first modified adherence score, and the intervention comprises an intervention of a first type;

and

the operations further comprising;

modifying the adherence scores for the patient population based on a second set of weights for a second type of intervention to obtain a second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population;

stratifying the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population; and

based on the stratifying the patients in the patient population, combining a portion of the patients in the patient population into a group to receive the second type of intervention.

29. The system of claim 26, wherein the set of weights comprise a first set of weights, and the operations further comprising:

modifying the adherence scores for the patient population based on a second set of weights for a timing of intervention to obtain a second modified adherence score for each patient in the patient population;

stratifying at least a portion of the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence scores; and

determining a timing for at least the portion of the patients in the patient population based on the second modified adherence scores.
