Abstract

The invention is a system and method of appraising and managing risk relating to technology needs using a risk management processing engine. The risk management processing engine serves as a central server for an administrator to manage a plurality of policy holders and third party service technicians. The invention gathers policy holder data, determining the risk associated with the data, creating a risk management policy for technology service events and technology service situations in order to mitigate or eliminate the risk, and resolving serviceable events when risk is actualized.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for resolving one or more technology service events with a risk management policy established between a policy holder and an administrator comprising the steps of:

establishing a distributed technology system including a server-based risk management processing engine coupled with a plurality of policy holder technical system environments via at least one network;

creating at least one policy holder account for a plurality of policy holders, forming a plurality of policy holder accounts, wherein said plurality of policy holder accounts define one or more technology related services that are covered by a risk management policy in exchange for a policy premium;

calculating an individual policy premium for each of said plurality of policy holders, wherein an individual policy premium is based on an actuarial risk associated with servicing an individual policy holder'"'"'s account by;

establishing a target profit;

assessing the actuarial risk of servicing said one or more technology related services;

establishing a policy premium based on said target profit and said actuarial risk;

automatically monitoring said individual policy holder'"'"'s technical system environment using said risk management processing engine, wherein said monitoring comprises collecting updated risk information relevant to said actuarial risk from said individual policy holder'"'"'s technical system environment;

updating said individual policy premium using said updated risk information;

identifying one or more serviceable events in a technical system environment of said individual policy holder;

verifying that an account of said at least one policy holder covers said one or more serviceable events;

verifying that said policy holder'"'"'s account policy premium is paid for, and

resolving said one or more serviceable events.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of resolving said one or more serviceable events comprises physically deploying a technician to resolve said one or more serviceable events.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of resolving said one or more serviceable events comprises deploying a computer-executable fix to said policy holder technical system environment of an at least one policy holder via said at least one network.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of creating a plurality of policy holder accounts is performed via a graphical user interface presented to said plurality of policy holders.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of creating a plurality of policy holder accounts is performed using an account creation wizard.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of creating at least one policy holder account for a plurality of policy holders includes gathering technical services need data from at least some of said plurality of policy holders.

7. The method of claim 4, wherein the step of automatically monitoring said plurality of policy holder technical system environments identifies at least one additional serviceable event in at least one policy holder'"'"'s technical system environment, and wherein the method further comprises:

resolving said at least one additional serviceable event without express authorization from said at least one policy holder;

notifying said at least one policy holder that said at least one additional serviceable event was resolved via a notification in said graphical user interface.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the step of assessing the actuarial risk of servicing said one or more technology related services involves:

accessing historical data from one or more databases, said historical data;

comparing the gathered technical services need data to the historical data; and

determining the actuarial risk of servicing said one or more technology related services.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of assessing the actuarial risk of servicing said one or more technology related services involves assigning a base price per unit for individual technical service needs.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of assessing the actuarial risk of servicing said one or more technology related services involves bundling a plurality of technical service products together.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of calculating a policy premium further includes applying one or more modifiers to said policy premium.

12. A system for deploying one or more technology service remedial actions by an administrator comprising:

a risk management processing engine coupled with a plurality of policy holders via a computer network, wherein the risk management processing engine comprises a plurality of processing modules including;

a policy holder account module for establishing a plurality of policy holder accounts, wherein said policy holder account module includes tools for creating a plurality of policy holder accounts, modifying said plurality of policy holder accounts, accepting payment for said plurality of policy holder accounts to remain active, and receiving at least one request for service, wherein said at least one request for service comprises a request by a policy holder for said administrator to resolve one or more technical service needs covered under said policy holder account;

an administrative module for managing said plurality of policy holder accounts;

a risk determination module for gathering policy holder data and calculating a cost associated with servicing an individual policy holder'"'"'s technology needs;

an automated data collection module for monitoring the technical system environments of said plurality of policy holders and automatically delivering updated information to said risk determination module, wherein said cost is updated based on said updated information; and

a service deployment module for;

accepting the reporting of said one or more technical service needs from said policy holder account module;

accessing said policy holder account module to determine if said one or more technical service needs are covered by the policy of said individual policy holder;

accessing said administrative module to determine if said individual policy holder account remains active; and

resolving said one or more technical service needs.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the service deployment module is coupled with a communication device for physically deploying a technician to resolve said one or more technical service needs to resolve said one or more technical service needs.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein the service deployment module comprises a network interface for deploying a computer-executable fix to said technical system environments of said plurality of policy holders via said at least one network.

15. The system of claim 12, wherein the policy holder account module is coupled with a graphical user interface for presenting a browser-based interface for creating and managing a technical services risk management policy.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein said graphical user interface comprises tools for self-reporting of said policy holder data.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the automated data collection module identifies at least one additional serviceable event in at least one policy holder'"'"'s technical system environment, and wherein the system comprises:

a means for resolving said at least one additional serviceable event without express authorization from said at least one policy holder;

a means for notifying said at least one policy holder that said at least one additional serviceable event was resolved.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the means for notifying comprises a pop-up interface presented to the user of said graphical user interface.

19. The system of claim 12, wherein said risk determination module further comprises:

a database containing historical data;

a means for comparing user data to the historical data; and

a means for determining the actuarial risk of servicing said one or more technology related services.
