Abstract

Methods and systems for coordinating delivery of coupons issued by a network-based system are disclosed. For example, a system can include a coupon generation engine, a coupon widget, and a communications module. The coupon generation engine can issue a unique coupon redeemable exclusively by a registered user of the network-based system. The coupon widget can present the unique coupon via a first communication channel internal to the network-based system. The communications module can deliver the unique coupon to the registered user via a second communication channel external to the network-based system.

Claims

1. A method of coordinating delivery of coupons issued by a network-based system, the method comprising:

issuing a unique coupon redeemable exclusively by a registered user of the network-based system;

presenting the unique coupon to the registered user via a first communication channel internal to the network-based system; and

presenting the unique coupon to the registered user via a second communication channel external to the network-based system.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first communication channel includes a web-based interface of the network-based system.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first communication channel includes a messaging system of the network-based system.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising applying the unique coupon to a purchase by the registered user on the network-based system.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying a remote computing system used to access the network-based system by the registered user and creating a remote system identification;

presenting the unique coupon to the registered user via the second communication channel upon detecting the identified remote computing system accessing the affiliated on-line property based on the remote system identification; and

wherein the presenting of the unique coupon includes delivering the unique coupon and the remote system identification to an affiliated on-line property.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the affiliated on-line property is a search engine.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the presenting includes presenting the unique coupon in conjunction with displaying a search request results listing.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the presenting of the unique coupon via the first communication channel includes using at least one of:

an account page associated with the registered user;

a real-time message display;

a checkout interface;

a web page header;

an item listing;

or

a customer service interface.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the presenting of the unique coupon to the registered user via the second communication channel includes using at least one of:

web-based interface;

an electronic message;

a postal mail item;

or

a telephone call.

10. A computer-implemented system for coordinating delivery of coupons issued by a network-based system, the system comprising:

a coupon generation engine to issue a unique coupon redeemable exclusively by a registered user of the network-based system;

a coupon widget to present the unique coupon via a first communication channel internal to the network-based system; and

a communications module to deliver the unique coupon to the registered user via a second communication channel external to the network-based system.

11. The computer-implemented system of claim 10, further comprising a checkout module to apply the unique coupon to a purchase by the registered user.

12. The computer-implemented system of claim 10, further comprising:

a web server to identify a remote computing system used to access the network-based system by the registered user and create a remote system identification;

an affiliated on-line property to display the unique coupon based on detecting the identified remote computing system accessing the affiliated on-line property based on the remote identification; and

wherein the communications server delivers the unique coupon and the remote system identification to an affiliated on-line property.

13. The computer-implemented system of claim 12, wherein the affiliated on-line property is a search engine.

14. The computer-implemented system of claim 10, wherein the coupon widget is further to present the coupon via the first communication channel using at least one of:

an account page associated with the user;

a real-time message display;

a check-out interface;

a web page header;

a item listing;

or

a customer service interface.

15. The computer-implemented system of claim 10, wherein the coupon widget is further to present multiple coupons issued to the registered user.

16. The computer-implemented system of claim 10, wherein the second communication channel includes at least one of:

an electronic message;

a postal mail item;

or

a telephone call.

17. A machine-readable medium embodying instructions which, when executed by a computer-implemented network-based system, cause the computer-implemented network-based system to execute a method comprising:

issuing a unique coupon redeemable exclusively by a registered user of the network-based system;

presenting the unique coupon to the registered user via a first communication channel internal to the network-based system; and

presenting the unique coupon to the registered user via a second communication channel external to the network-based system.

18. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the first communication channel includes a web-based interface of the network-based system.

19. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the first communication channel includes a messaging system of the network-based system.

20. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the method further comprises applying the unique coupon to a purchase by the registered user on the network-based system.

21. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the method further comprises:

identifying a remote computing system used to access the network-based system by the registered user and creating a remote system identification;

presenting the unique coupon to the registered user via the second communication channel upon detecting the identified remote computing system accessing the affiliated on-line property based on the remote system identification; and

wherein the presenting of the unique coupon includes delivering the unique coupon and the remote system identification to an affiliated on-line property.

22. The machine-readable medium of claim 21, wherein the affiliated on-line property is a search engine.

23. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the presenting the unique coupon via the first communication channel includes using at least one of:

an account page associated with the registered user;

a real-time message display;

a checkout interface;

a web page header;

a item listing;

or

a customer service interface.

24. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the presenting the unique coupon via the first communication channel includes displaying all coupons issued to the registered user.

25. The machine-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the presenting the unique coupon to the registered user via the external communication channel includes using at least one of:

an electronic message;

a postal mail item;

or

a telephone call.
