Abstract

There is provided methods and systems to enable navigation of data items based on aspect-value pairs extracted from the data items. First, the system receives the query. Second, the system identifies the plurality of data items found by the query. Third, the system identifies an aspect of at least one of the plurality of data items. Fourth, the system identifies a value of a plurality of values corresponding to the aspect. Fifth, the system a request to navigate to a set of data items within the plurality of data items, the request comprising the aspect and a requested value of the plurality of values. Each one of the set of data items has the aspect and the value. Sixth, the system presents, in a user interface, information about each one of the set of data items.

Claims

1. A method of enabling navigation of a plurality of data items corresponding to a query, the method comprising:

receiving the query;

identifying the plurality of data items corresponding to the query;

identifying an aspect of at least one of the plurality of data items;

identifying a value of a plurality of values corresponding to the aspect for each of the plurality of data items;

receiving a request to navigate to a set of data items within the plurality of data items, the request including the aspect and a requested value, each one of the set of data items having the aspect and the requested value; and

generating user interface information about each data item of the set of data items.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying the aspect includes extracting the aspect from the plurality of data items.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying the aspect further comprises extracting the aspect or the value of the plurality of values according to a received aspect rule.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying the value of the plurality of values corresponding to the aspect further comprises applying a received aspect rule to each of the plurality of data items to extract an aspect-value pair.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein each of the data items corresponds to a product or service for sale on an information storage and retrieval platform.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the user interface information includes a user interface element representing the aspect and a user interface element representing the requested value.

7. A system of enabling navigation of a plurality of data items corresponding to a query, the method comprising:

a communication module to receive the query;

a search index engine to identify the plurality of data items corresponding to the query;

an aspect extractor module to identify an aspect of at least one of the plurality of data items;

the aspect extractor module to identify a value of a plurality of values corresponding to the aspect for each of the plurality of data items;

a demand data engine to receive a request to navigate to a set of data items within the plurality of data items, the request including the aspect and a requested value, each one of the set of data items having the aspect and the requested value; and

a coverage module to generate user interface information about each data item of the set of data items.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein identifying the aspect includes extracting the aspect from the plurality of data items.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein identifying the aspect further comprises extracting the aspect or the value of the plurality of values according to a received aspect rule.

10. The system of claim 7, wherein identifying the value of the plurality of values corresponding to the aspect further comprises applying a received aspect rule to each of the plurality of data items to extract an aspect-value pair.

11. The system of claim 7, wherein each of the data items corresponds to a product or service for sale on an information storage and retrieval platform.

12. The system of claim 7, the user interface information includes a user interface element representing the aspect and a user interface element representing the requested value.

13. A non-transitory machine-readable medium embodying a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving the query;

identifying the plurality of data items corresponding to the query;

identifying an aspect of at least one of the plurality of data items;

identifying a value of a plurality of values corresponding to the aspect for each of the plurality of data items;

receiving a request to navigate to a set of data items within the plurality of data items, the request including the aspect and a requested value, each one of the set of data items having the aspect and the requested value; and

generating user interface information about each data item of the set of data items.

14. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 13, wherein identifying the aspect includes extracting the aspect from the plurality of data items.

15. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 13, wherein identifying the aspect further comprises extracting the aspect or the value of the plurality of values according to a received aspect rule.

16. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 13, wherein identifying the value of the plurality of values corresponding to the aspect further comprises applying a received aspect rule to each of the plurality of data items to extract an aspect-value pair.

17. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 13, wherein each of the data items corresponds to a product or service for sale on an information storage and retrieval platform.

18. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 13, wherein the user interface information includes a user interface element representing the aspect and a user interface element representing the requested value.
