1. An augmented constraint apparatus for delivery and deployment of an intraluminal filter within a lumen comprising:
- an elongated support member for an intraluminal filter, said support member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a shaft therebetween;
an intraluminal filter associated with the distal end of the support member, said filter comprising a plurality of outwardly biased struts, said filter having a collapsed state and a deployed state;
a motion restricting member disposed about at least a portion of the outwardly biased struts of the filter in the collapsed state;
a containment structure having two or more apertures therein; and
an activation element having a first position and a second position, wherein in the first position, the activation element engages the two or more apertures of the containment structure and the containment structure encompasses at least a portion of the outwardly biased struts, further wherein in the second position, the activation element is disengaged from at least one of the apertures of the containment structure allowing the intraluminal filter to move from the collapsed state toward the deployed state.

14. An augmented constraint apparatus for delivery and deployment of an intraluminal filter within a lumen comprising:
-
a filter comprising a plurality of outwardly biased struts, said struts being joined at least at their proximal ends; a motion restricting member disposed about at least a portion of the outwardly biased struts, said motion restricting member providing an inward force insufficient to prevent expansion of the filter from a collapsed state to an expanded state; and a containment structure, wherein the containment structure encompasses at least a portion of the outwardly biased struts and in combination with the motion restricting member provides sufficient inward force to prevent expansion of the filter from a collapsed state to an expanded state until the containment structure is released or removed. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19)

20. A method of constraining and deploying an intraluminal filter within a lumen comprising the steps of:
-
providing a plurality of outwardly biased struts; mounting a filter material about the distal portion of the plurality of outwardly biased struts; collapsing the filter into a delivery state; providing a motion restricting member about at least a portion of the outwardly biased struts, said motion restriction member having a first position and a second position, wherein in the first position the motion restricting member provides an inward force insufficient to completely prevent at least partial expansion of the plurality of outwardly biased struts and in the second position at least a portion of the motion restricting member is located proximally of its first position and the plurality of struts is fully expanded; providing a containment structure which has a first position and a second position wherein in the first position the containment structure at least partially encompasses the plurality of outwardly biased struts and provides an inward force capable of preventing the expansion of the outwardly biased struts when the motion restricting member is in the first position and wherein in the second position, the inward force provided by the containment structure is removed; positioning the intraluminal filter within a lumen; and moving the containment structure from its first position to its second position thereby removing at least a portion of the inward force provided by the containment structure and allowing the struts to at least partially expand moving the motion restricting member from its first position to its second position as the filter deploys within the lumen.
