Abstract

A method performed by a physical computing device communicatively coupled to a computer network for creating an aggregate report of a presence of a user of the physical computing device on the network includes periodically searching the network with the physical computing device for content related to the user authored by a source other than the user, the searching being based on a unique set of identifiers associated with the user, dynamically updating the unique set of identifiers based on contextual trends within content returned as a result of the searching, and aggregating content published by the user to the network with the content returned as a result of the searching to form the aggregate report of the presence of the user on the network.

Claims

1. A method performed by a physical computing device communicatively coupled to a computer network for creating an aggregate report of a presence of a user of said physical computing device on said network, the method comprising:

periodically searching said network with said physical computing device for content related to said user authored by a source other than said user, said searching being based on a unique set of identifiers associated with said user;

dynamically updating said unique set of identifiers based on contextual trends within content on said network returned as a result of said searching; and

aggregating content published by said user to said network with said content returned as a result of said searching to form said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising presenting said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network to at least said user through a user interface of said computing device.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising dynamically tracking said content published by said user to said network for use in said aggregation of content published by said user to said network with said content returned as a result of said searching.

4. The method of claim 3, in which said dynamically tracking said content published by said user to said network comprises:

executing a browser application with said physical computing device;

allowing said user to access said network through said browser application; and

storing with said browser application at least a portion of data uploaded by said user to said network.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising notifying said user with said physical computing device that said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network comprises at least one of:

a positive portrayal of said user, a negative portrayal of said user, and a neutral portrayal of said user.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising said network presence management system indicating to said user a degree of positivity or negativity of said portrayal.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising allowing said user to edit said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising prohibiting said user from making modifications to said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network to a person other than said user.

10. The method of claim 1, in which said network comprises the Internet.

11. A physical network presence management system comprising:

a processor;

a memory communicatively coupled to said processor, said memory comprising executable code stored thereon such that said executable code, when executed by said processor, causes said processor to implement a network browser;

in which said processor is configured to;

track content uploaded to a network through said network browser;

periodically search said network for content related to said user authored by a source other than said user;

said searching being based on a unique set of identifiers associated with said user;

dynamically update said set of unique identifiers based on contextual trends within content returned as a result of said searching; and

aggregate content published by said user with said content returned as a result of said searching to create an aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network.

12. The system of claim 11, in which said processor is further configured to present said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network to at least said user through a user interface of said computing device.

13. The system of claim 12, in which said processor is further configured to dynamically track said content published by said user to said network for use in said aggregation of content published by said user to said network with said content returned as a result of said searching.

14. The system of claim 13, in which to dynamically track said content published by said user to said network, said processor is further configured to store with said browser application at least a portion of data uploaded by said user to said network.

15. The system of claim 11, in which said processor is further configured to notify said user that said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network provides at least one of:

a positive portrayal of said user, a negative portrayal of said user, and a neutral portrayal of said user.

16. The system of claim 15, in which said processor is further configured to indicate to said user a degree of positivity or negativity of said portrayal.

17. The system of claim 11, in which said processor is further configured to allow said user to edit said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network.

18. The system of claim 11, in which said processor is further configured to prohibit said user from making modifications to said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network.

19. The system of claim 11, in which said processor is further configured to provide said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network to a person other than said user.

20. A computer program product for forming an aggregate report of a presence of a user on a network, said computer program product comprising:

a computer readable storage medium having a network browser embodied as computer readable code, said computer readable program code comprising;

computer readable program code configured to track content uploaded to said network through said network browser;

computer readable program code configured to periodically search said network for content related to said user authored by a source other than said user;

said searching being based on a unique set of identifiers associated with said user;

computer readable program code configured to dynamically update said set of unique identifiers based on contextual trends within content returned as a result of said searching; and

computer readable program code configured to aggregate content published by said user with said content returned as a result of said searching to form said aggregate report of said presence of said user on said network.
